You don't think the losses against Stormers,Bulls and Force would help keep Reds out of top 6?? Not quite sure of your reasoning there Scotty.

The Sharks and Crusaders games are ones that we would have won if we had a little more composure.

What don't you get? of the games they have lost they were the 2 that they really let slip amd should have come away with wins.

4918, I would argue that the Perth v Force game was one that was 'let slip' only in that the Reds' player attitudes, defence, general application, forwards work, handling, etc, virtually all skill areas were at a 2008 Reds' standard at best and were mere gifts to a Force that played quite well, but not exceptionally so. This game defined the lowest ebb of this year's campaign.

Summarily, the Reds 2012 vist to RSA and its impact upon the team as they reached WA, was an unmitigated disaster save for about 25 mins in 1H Durban. We have been paying for that trip the entire season and we are only now essentially getting over it.

QRU Media Release: Daley, Robinson return for St.George Queensland Reds

St.George Queensland Reds prop Ben Daley and flanker Beau Robinson return from one-week injury layoffs to regain their places in the matchday squad set to play the FxPro Super Rugby competition leading Chiefs at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.

Daley (hamstring) has been thrust straight back into the starting line-up for the all-important Mother’s Day encounter on May 13 while Robinson (fibula) will be used as a late game closer from the bench.

The inclusion of Daley and Robinson are the only two changes made from last Sunday’s narrow loss to the Crusaders with an unchanged starting backline representing just the second time in 2012 the Reds have fielded the same line-up from nine to 15 on consecutive weeks.

The Reds will run out this week with vice-captain Will Genia at number nine and Ben Lucas at 10; Digby Ioane and Dom Shipperley on the wings; Mike Harris and Anthony Fainga'a in the centres; and Luke Morahan at fullback.

The last occurrence of this happening came during their early season successes over the Force (round two) and Rebels (round three) whereby the Reds managed to record two straight wins.

“We’ve worked our way through a difficult period of injuries and are now seeing the benefit of cohesion in our selections and with combinations out of the field,” coach Ewen McKenzie said.

“You can sense a huge lift in the confidence and intensity of our play following the return of a number of players and they will only continue to play better the more they get the opportunity to play alongside one another.

“We took a huge step forward last week against the Crusaders in terms of performance and I genuinely believe it’s only a matter of time before we fully click.

“Getting Ben and Beau back also obviously helps as they are two key forwards and you need your best players out on the field for big games. The stakes are high for Sunday and we expect both to be integral to the outcome.”

The Sonny Bill Williams led Chiefs have been the standouts of the 2012 competition to date and are currently on a nine-game win streak after their only loss of the season came against the Highlanders in round one.

In their past two encounters in Waikato the Queenslanders have gained the ascendency with two victories bringing the side’s overall head-to-head record to eight wins a piece.

In their last encounter, during the final round of the 2011 regular season, the Reds scored an impressive 19-11 win.

Good team, hope Quirk and Beau both get on the field at the same time with Gill. Could move Higgs to the 2nd row or bring him and Schatz off.

Glad Schatz kept 6 and Link didn't run with both open sides again. Thought he had one of his best games last week and think this could be a very good long-term backrow. Higgers has matured and now looks great at 8 where he struggled a year or 2 ago. Hopefully giving Schatz time to develop at 6 before moving him back to 8 can't hurt.

Morahan must further accelerate his recent improvement, Harris repair his place and hand kicking (the biggest exposure we have), and Davies must not be played (does Link have a soft spot for him, or is he all we have from approved sources?). Higgers: if there's no support for the short pass, go into contact, no more messy low passes to nowhere please.

Sorry, we still miss Quade. We've got to sharpen our attack, and score more tries.

How bad is Toua's hamstring this time, thought it was only a couple of weeks? He's definitely worth a try on the bench instead of Davies.

RH, Higgers pop passes have been getting a lot better and he has improved his judgement there for sure. Remember one last week he got away that the support player put down that should have been taken and think the commentators blamed Higgs.

I would've kep Holmes in for Daley. Other than that I am really looking forward to this game, should be nearly as good as last week - with a competent referee.

Reds by a try

It is just a shame that it feels that the Crusaders game will be the loss that will keep us out of the top 6. Well that and the Sharks game.

Scotty - Include in those losses not picking up and pushing for a 4 try BP against the Blues when they opted for penalty kick over going for the try in final 10 mins.

Have been disappointed with the development of Davies as a footie player, which is a pity because top speed is a precious attribute in our sport.

IIRR his contract is yet to be renewed. I don't know the balance of the 2013 squad as it stands at the minute, but there must be a case that he will be discarded.

Let's hope he starts playing well to put that thought aside.

Yeah, his pace makes him dangerous, it's just a pity his decsion making can make him dangerous to his own side
