Tough viewing for both supporters. For the Tahs, pleasing 80 minutes efforts from the young'uns, Holloway and Dempsey, both showing good motors and skills.

Foley displayed much needed composure on his return, possibly the difference in the wash up, 'cause if he was wearing Red and Gill had played the 2nd half, well...

Tahs need to re-group quickly and focus on getting the points at home against the Rebels. However, their set piece misery shows little sign of abating and sorry to say but it's difficult to see them making an impact come the business end.

Good keen exchanges between these two deranged packs of aussie boofheads. Proaobly the most engrossing match up of foreign freaks I've seen this season.

Although fuck knows how the Blues leaked 3 tries to those Reds last week. God, the Reds backs are like a rugby league team that's just been told prior to kick off that it's rugby union on today

If Reds are any chance of getting Quade back, they should explore that opportunity. Or give Sam Greene a crack so we can see what he can do. Offering little to worry other teams defense at the moment.

Also, was Gill injured or was it just "The Plan" to only play him for 40 minutes? Bad plan if so as we fucking needed him out there trying to turnover the ball at the end.

Straight after the game, a heap of random thoughts.

Okay, there is no doubt in my mind now the two Robbos should start in the Tahs front row. Roach, well, the guy has to learn to throw into a line-out. I guess it was wet, so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt this week, but it looks like he's going to get plenty of practice.

I thought Foley was the big difference between those teams, really controlled the game, a class act who continues to improve (or Japanese Nard, as Hooper called him).

Reds have a good set piece, and some individual goers, but as a team they look dreadful. The Tahs look like they did in 2013, lots of attacking potential, breaks made, but giving it away with shit passes, poor ball control and dumb penalties.

Reds need to find a quality 10 and quick, someone has to organise that rabble and it aint Jake McIntyre. Ant Fa'ainga tacles like a machine, but he's a one trick pony, and the utside backs are just big boppers who have no idea what to do without an organiser.

Finally, great to see Gill and Foley back, two class acts in a pretty ordinary game of rugby.

Although that poor throw near the end was just as much a poor call as a poor throw. The Reds were never going to contest that lineout, so why have everyone running around in circles for the throw? A real coach killer.

Although the game was quite entertaining - in a masochistic sort of way.

Plenty of intent from both sides, but neither could really put much together. Reds have the Richard Graham legacy excuse, not sure what our excuse is, but it's quite frustrating to watch - particularly the lack of discipline; which extends not only to conceding penalties, but extends to lack of ball control and some disrespect towards the referee.

Reds had a chance to win but really no idea about how to do it. Just too many players who are not consistently up to Super Rugby standard - Schatz, Frisby, McNamara, Hunt. Others who show no inkling that they will ever proceed beyond Super Rugby. On present form, only the front row should be considered for any higher honours. Then, one player only in the whole team who showed any ability to break the line - Tui.

Having said that, the Tahs really made a hash of putting them away. Hooper, Holloway and Folau made the difference, little as it was. Holloway looks to be a champion in the making.

Lost count during the game of how many times I asked where the Reds' No 9 was at the breakdown. Unfortunately, Nick Frisby is very much over=rated imo and we will be in deep trouble if he is on the bench for the Wallabies.

I did think the Reds were hard done by on one occasion, following a kick through by McNamara when Guildford spilt the ball on the try line. Refs' call was a knock on against Guildford, but he immediately played the ball on the ground and clearly stopped the Reds from picking it up and scoring the try. Penalty try right there and a YC to Guildford in my book.

I think Frisby and Hunt have been great this season. As far as backs go for the Reds they are the standouts.

Shatz is one of those players who does not shine like a start but does enough work that he would be missed if he was not there. There are far bigger issues with the Reds before looking at Shatz.

Two comments from being at the game: surprised that the Tahs didn't get a yellow or at least more warnings after so many penalties, and McIntyre was shocking running the Reds backline that game. Best that could be said about him is that he was a hand brake on an already stunted backline, just painful watching the poor decisions and static ball he made. Hunt another who had a shocker decision making wise.

Plain and simple the Reds backs lost them that game.

So many opportunities but no execution and then no guidance to bring them into the game. Kerevi had his worst game today, he really does have the fumbles at the moment.

IMO The Reds bench need to get inserted a bit earlier. Not enough time for them to impact the game. The Tahs bench however did an awesome job to even up the scrum battle but then add to the fight. Robinson needs to start next week and I'd even have Roberts to start. The reserve props easily outshine the starters in Paddy Ryan and Angus Taavao

Although the same could be said for the Waratahs when they drove a maul over the line from a 5m lineout. Neville came in 2 metres offside, locked onto the ball and prevented a try being scored - when the maul crossed the try line, the only thing between the ball and the ground was Neville.

Looks like you're right & SF came on under the scrum protocol with Browning drawing the short straw to go off. When Ready comes back from the bin SF goes off & Browning returns. SF then subs in for Ready a short time later. All covered by the scrum protocol so nothing dodgy going on.

Sometimes we overcomplicate the lineout, don't we?

How often does the #2 cop the grief for a lost lineout, when the "fault" should be more appropriately sheeted home to the Caller, or the poor execution of the Jumper/lifters who are called?

It is supposed to be a quick restart for the game. Often it is not.

Schatz has been in the side for 5 years, has 80 caps and gone no where. Holloway was in the side for 3 years, didn't get an opportunity until this year and has looked 4 times a better player. That's what's wrong with Aus rugby.

I'd agree if they both played for the same franchise. Otherwise, dubious.

Geez, there will be some very sore bodies tomorrow morning. Some of those hits today were massive.

The reds will take some time to develop the skills and confidence to be able to win, but at least they are able to make some decent metres now and deliver some points.

The reds are making other teams work hard for their wins now and that's good.

Ant had some good defensive reads, tui made somw good metres and junior played pretty solidly. Kerevi is having a bit of difficulty, but some head doctor stuff should sort him out.

Compared to the rubbish served up under Graham, this is champagne rugby tbh.

I am enjoying being there at the moment.

Yeah, not getting the hate for this game. I really enjoyed it.

It was never going to be a glittering handling display from the Reds backs. But Kerevi is a concern in his ability to link up. Could partly be the people he has to combine with. The Ballymore kid was good on debut, seems a better prospect than CFS for the long term.

The Tahs are going poor to fair. Which is OK as long as they keep grinding out the wins while they get their combos together and can bring it together at the pointy end of the season.

Tahs were fair,now they are poor.
I can't believe the impact Cheika leaving has had,with essentially the same playing group.
Both sides were poo tonight, which is a continuation of their performance this year.

Not sure if anything will happen to Sef or Ready (don't think it's needed) but the bye this week adds a nice buffer. I'm sure they're both scheduled to play club footy this weekend.
