I thought Simmons was one of the few that stood up in the second half. He's a different guy to the one that started the season. He has cut out most of the silly scrappy stuff.See this is one of the reasons that I don't rate Simmons as much as some people. Sure he's handy in the lineout but where most people with as many Super/Test caps as he has would be real team leaders, Simmons seems to just be out there for a bit of a scrap. While there's nothing necessarily wrong with that in a player, it is telling when the other forward leaders are off the field.
The Reds forwards dropped off in the second half but they were still good at scrum time. It was against the Sharks maul that they struggled the most and without Gill were less effective at the breakdown. Also Genia's desire to kick the ball away made them have to defend a lot more.
