Tigerland - why don't you say what you think. Harsh words and IMO you are way of track. Watch closer.
I watch him every week. I'm by no means saying he's a bad player, but there is so much more he needs to improve on.

Just because a player is younger does not mean he's exempt from criticism.

Will this be on radio?

Sportsbet put up a market for this game with the Hurricanes favourites at 1.36 -6.5 / Reds 3.00 +6.5

Think the Canes will get up by 10.

Apparently Lucas has picked up a bit of an injury too. Hopefully nothing too serious. Don't think Damien Stannard is a big fan of Dallan Murphy.

AN injury to Ben Lucas further soured a rusty outing for the Queensland Reds their exhibition match against the Hurricanes at the Sunshine Coast tonight.
Standing in as captain in the absence of injured lock James Horwill and the side's Wallabies representatives, the Reds' Mr Fixit appeared to be suffering a shoulder problem when replaced midway through the second half of the 36-7 loss to their Kiwi Super Rugby rivals.
Given the Reds have been gathering momentum and face a winnable match against the Rebels in Melbourne when the competition resumes on June 29, the potential loss of Lucas is a setback they could do without.
Radike Samo, who was auditoning for Horwill's starting spot, suffered a head knock but his replacement seemed precautionary.
Lucas, fullback Luke Morahan, Samo and his back-row partners Jake Schatz and Ed Quirk were the standouts in a side that was clearly short of a gallop.

Another contender for the second row, Adam Wallace-Harrison, also was busy but the Hurricanes were far too slick.
More than 5100 people packed Stockland Sunshine Coast Stadium and they would have been disappointed by the Super Rugby champions.
There was much to gain for several fringe Reds, including flyhalf Dallan Murphy, but they fluffed their chance.
The Reds starting forwards, boasting seven Super 15 regulars, at least opened the game in harmony against a similarly qualified pack.
It was the backs who appeared to be introducing each other as they ran on.
With few established combinations to work with they lacked understanding and turned over too much ball to the adventurous Hurricanes.
Their best opportunity of the first half, a hard-earned attacking scrum, evaporated after a cheap turnover when Morahan was isolated out wide.
The visitors quickly spread the ball, with winger Waisake Naholo finishing a fine length of the field raid to establish a 12-0 lead just before halftime.
HURRICANES 36 (Eaton, Waholo, Savea, Leiua, Levave, Perenara tries; Kirkpatrick 2, Pisi conv) d REDS 7 (Shepherdson try; Lucas conv

It was a shocking 'temporary' Reds team performance, even shambolic in some respects. The article above is flattering. As a Reds fan, it was an embarrassing waste of time, and shortchanged the Sunshine Coast fans whom to their credit withheld from booing.

The Hurricanes were generally excellent, especially their backs whose skillful, error free passing at high pace and accuracy exemplified the best of NZ skills and intensity.

The QRU should be ashamed at fronting such a ramshackle, ill-prepared team offering nothing to the fans, even if offering Link the chance to forever reject multiple fringe players who barely deserve the bus trip back to Brisbane.

Well f*ck those exhibition matches - TJ Perenara broke his ankle in the last minute and is obviously out for a very long time.

What slim hope the Hurricanes had is gone with TJ and Vito both out.

Double f*ck.

Oh my, that is really bad news. Perenara has been a livewire this year, and Vito is a machine.

I too am terrible upset the a team above us on the ladder have lost 2 very valuable players for the last 3 games.

( I really do care about any player that gets injured. But from a team Reds perspective this could help us.)

Oh don't get me wrong Sully, for us Reds fans that is great news. For 'Canes fans, it is devastating. From the perspective of a rugby fan, it is a shame that we wont be seeing Perenara running about again this season. He has been brilliant to watch.

I suppose I could have phrased my comment a little better though!

crowd figure of 5000 odd, is that considered a successful promotion?
What is the capacity of the oval? I would have thought they could squeeze 10k in there?

They were aiming for about 4k, and must have had 1500 or so walk ups.

edited for being offensive. Sorry RH

Reds Happy, are you bipolar? You are either over the top with enthusiasm or borderline fatalistic.

Yeah, that post was composed in a padded cell I frequent, doctors trying to get Fox installed for me.

Please send me yr personal guidelines for 'not over the top enthusiasm' and, as a passionate fan, I promise to consider them carefully. Glad someone knows better than me how to be balanced and 'just right' in support of the team.

And WTF is 'borderline fatalistic'?

My post re the Canes game has zero required revision today, sorry it offended your sensibilities. It was an awful, really poor performance, please post the excellence parts you saw so we can debate it further. Every paying Reds fan around me felt and said the same, some were quite angry. I love the Reds, but I call it as I see it. I can't ask others to not be blind, then be blind myself.

And Reg, given personal jibes, perhaps a disclaimer from you should have been included in yr posts.

I'm with Spectator, that Canes side looked alot stronger then ours. No suprise that our strongest players were our Super Rugby backrowers and hooker.

Having not seen or heard the result of the game, reading this thread was interesting. It was quite clearly set in phases. Analysis, Optimism, Hopefulness, Despair, Anger, Resignation, Fatalism.
