Definitely surprised to see Lance at 12. Would have thought it safer to go with Lucas at 10 and Harris at 12. Not that i am worried, watching him in some replays from last year and he was very impressive. Taps will be interesting to see after his couple of games at 13 last season but he is now an established member so should be better.

Interestingly Taps and Jono player in the midfield together in the TSS championship team in 2007. Their coach was Matt Taylor. Their fullback was Luke Morahan. In their forward pack was James Slipper and Rob Simmons.

I reckon Jono is a good 10 but is an even better 12. When he's played there for Uni he's been really good.

I thought Lance might have been a better option at 13 with Taps at 12 but I guess this way they will have 2 play makers. I'm actually pretty excited about the Reds side.

So i guess Stannard will go to 9 and Seymour to 10 if need be...very risky would have liked to see Turner on the bench. Sheps must still be injured or on the outer. VEry good to see Patty back and will be insteresting how Stanley goes at 12 i thought he should have been there last week.

Agreed Gaffa. I find it odd that Turner is not on the bench, but on the flip side it's good to see Dellit back. The pack (and reserves) look fine to me.

No one goes back a page anymore...

Don't use the blue button either.

Based on the two packs you would have to give the Force some hope in this one. No Higgers, a LHP who is a weak scrummager, a new hooker.... No Wykes or Brown, but the rest looks very strong.

The backs have Taps out of position, though I rate Lance - he's a real prospect. Taps did not play well at 13 last year. Force backline looks infinitely stronger with Sidey on the bench. Shepherd not fit looks very ominous - doubt he'll be re-signed by anyone next year due to fitness concerns. Tragedy because he's hugely skilled, should have been a Wallaby many times over.

I have a strange feeling this one could be an upset. Last year the Reds won a lucky one first round then got a thrashing. This year the Reds won a lucky one first round and then......

Based on Taps performance at 13 last year, and the fact that he is a specialist 12 I think we could have set this up better. I know we seem reluctant to play Morahan at 13, I think we would look much better with 12. Taps 13. Morahan 15. Lance.

However if Taps can make a fist of 13 it will make it very interesting when Quade back in terms of fitting Harris into the squad potentially as a 12.

I think playing 13 outside Lance will be a different prospect than playing 13 outside Ant. I think more opportunities will present themselves for Taps in this game.
I also hope the 12 months of experience will help him defensively

How long does harris have left on his contract?? If QC (Quade Cooper) comes back and he isnt getting much game time can we see Harris moving to another club?? Say the Force?

The coaching team, at least in my discussions, don't consider Mozz as a 13.

The other problems there is that while Jono played 15 admirably last year that was more to defend in the line while Quade played fullback in defence, he is a midfielder by trade. By playing Mozz at 13 and Jono at 15 you are actually getting 2 players out of position. This way Taps is the only one who is out of position. I honestly believe Taps' poor performance last year at 13 was more beginners nerve than him being a shit 13.

However if Taps can make a fist of 13 it will make it very interesting when Quade back in terms of fitting Harris into the squad potentially as a 12.

Could be Link thinking a little ahead, you could be right.

Out of interest Timmsy are you officially a Reds supporter now? I notice there is no Waratah in your posts these days.

Mate, tough question. I dropped the Tahs logo and replaced it with none early last year when Reg dropped out and I took over the Reds.

But, I tried to explain it to a friend the other day, I watched the game on the weekend and was both annoyed and elated at the last try. I am pretty much as close to a fence sitter as you can get, I know most of the reds players and catch up with Tatsy at least weekly, so want them to do well, but I am a NSWelshman not a QLDer.

I just support the Wallabies and enjoy all the Aussies doing well. If I was forced to say it, I would say I support the Reds, at least in this incarnation.

Fuck, that confuses me more  ...

I confused a heap of Tahs supporters last weekend - sitting at the game in Reds jersey, cheering when the Tahs made a nice play. You're not the only one - I just land on the Reds side of the fence when poked.
