I don't think JOC (James O'Connor)'s experience at 10 counts for much since he honestly hasn't had a good game there in something like 3 years. I still don't know how he regressed so much from that BaaBaa/Wales set of tests to his play at 10 for the Rebels and Wallabies the following year, it was all mental stuff he was screwing up.

That's not to say K is even a good 10, he's still an unknown quantity at this point for me. But just that I wasn't overly impressed with his play at 15 during the trials (I thought he'd be stronger under the high ball, honestly) and JOC (James O'Connor)'s been playing well there in actual matches very recently.

I'm more worried about the Force pack getting the wood on our boys and Alby just fucking us with bombs and then some cheeky snipes all night long. If it gets to a certain point in the forwards it won't really matter who is at 15, I guess.

Just not really sold on either JOC (James O'Connor) at 10 or K at 15 right now and don't see the point in breaking up K's time at 10 when JOC (James O'Connor) has been playing in the back three nearly the entire time he was in Europe. Seems like a bit of a desperate gamble by Richard to me.

Papers have reported JOC (James O'Connor) at 10 and Hunt at 15.

I don't think Hunt can read or control a game at 10. It takes years to develop, and Hunt wasn't even a 10 when he played rugby previously.

JOC (James O'Connor) can't really control a game either, but he's played a lot more 10 than Hunt has, and he can read the game a lot better right now. I don't like JOC (James O'Connor) at 10, but I like it more than Hunt at 10.

If the Reds want Hunt as their fullback long term, then there's no point making him a makeshift 10 before leaving him at 15.

Anyway, I suspect that Reds plan this year was for Quade at 10, and JOC (James O'Connor) at wing and to cover reserve 10.

Turner is a very good defensive option and a solid player, but he's a limited attacking player and has lost a step of pace. Turner would need to develop the return ability of a guy like Peter Hynes, who was not an overly strong runner nor did he have a particularly great step, but he was quick and had a good eye for a gap. And Hynes was very dangerous for a while at Super Rugby level before his knees broke down.

Hunt was fairly average at 10.

A lot of posters were blowing smoke outa the bloke before a game was played. Reality is now here.

K needs to adjust to the game. Hopefully he will be more successful at 15, where he generally has time and space

Let K go to fullback. JOC (James O'Connor) should be 10. only because he has played Rugby and understands how the play should be directed. Is he the best option no but I think he is our only option. Piggies must stand up to give us any chance at all. Can't see the reds play as bad as they did last week.

As this article suggests, doesn't matter who plays 10. We need all players to take the ball forward and Will Genia to step up big time.

Reg thats pretty simplistic. The 10 is supposed to direct the play. Its a bit like an army without a general, isn't it ?

Bit agree with your last sentence bigtime but include Horwill as well

I reckon the Spirit had an off night in the NRC final. They were tired from tackling their hearts out against the Rebels Rising.

That being said, the Force will be tired from all the tackling they had to do against the Waratahs. The Reds won't need to worry about tiredness...

Also the Reds played last Friday, whereas the Force played in the heat on Sunday.

For this weekend, I've already resigned myself to a win being unlikely (though I'll still be gutted for them when they lose) but I'll probably be cheery if we at least
a) scrum them into the fucking dirt (a penalty try would be nice)
b) improve the average quality of our catch pass so something resembling cohesive attack is possible.
c) show more attacking ideas on 1st phase than "throw it to Samu to crash"
d) pick up a bonus point

I'd like to see this starting XV pending return of injured players: Slipper, Fainga'a, Talakai, Simmons(?)/Horwill, Kotze, Thomson, Gill, Schatz, Genia, JOC (James O'Connor), CFS, Fainga'a/Kerevi, Tapuai(?), Turner, Hunt.

I really do hope the boys turn up for this one and I have a gut feeling they will. After a loss like last Friday, they would've stepped up a gear at training this week and their focus would be squarely on high performance come Saturday.

If some weather reports are to be believed, Suncorp may be underwater by the time Saturday rolls around. Heaviest rainfall probably going to occur Thursday and Friday.

When are the Force supposed to be flying in to Brisbane? Are they already here? I'd imagine air traffic around the airport will be at a minimum from tonight.

I think Simmo is out for an indefinite period.

I think their training would have been fine. Its time to train the brain.
Be physical. tough, uncompromising - accross the field

Yup the Force have been on the GC all week.

Will be a wet game... at the very least underfoot. Do you think we will see a change in starting forward pack for the conditions? Perhaps going for size? Eg Dules to 6 with the 2 2nd rowers from last week? (Thompson in at 8)

I think Simmo is out for an indefinite period.
He was supposed to be available week 3, but as it's a nerve issue it will require ongoing review. Going to be a painful year physically for Simmons is reckon. Nerve damage is awful.

As long as the rain stops a few hours before the game there won't be a appreciable difference from a spectators point of view. Even as shagged as it is, Suncorp's drainage still gets the water away well. The track will be heavy but won't be a bog.

Reckon Horwill should be dropped for lots of reasons, already given.

But there is no other option but to play him.

I just hope he redeems himself, plays with controlled aggression.

Last 2 seasons have seen the Force beat us. time for a change.
