Well, that was disappointing. I thought they were going to get there - but they just don’t have that composure and those couple of genuine threats out wide.
Unfortunately the Reds played like what they are - a young, talented forward pack that doesn’t lack for effort but lacks composure and a backline missing cohesion and a game breaker or 3.
You have to give sone credit to the Chiefs defence for holding on and forcing some last ditch turnovers.

Really? I didn’t think that at all. I thought Campbell’s post contact metres were excellent as was his work rate. Will be interested to see some stats.
Biggest issue for mine is he seems to lack a bit of speed. Plus I think he got done in defence a couple of times - certainly his work in contact there may be getting found out a bit.

Reds #14 - pretty good carrying in contact. That Scott-Young could learn a few things from him.
Bit of inexperience from the Reds near the line. Couple of times they absolutely bottled it on the pick n go when they needed a crash ball effort from two forwards moving at pace.

I can't get the screen-grab to upload but, yeah, Manu's thrown that forward from the hands. Bad miss from the TMO who otherwise got everything right incl this one:
I called in dropped from the front-on footage based on it being in his hand one moment but forced with his wrist/ forearm therefore it had to have come loose at some point, but that side-on shot (that the TMO saw but didn't or couldn't get shown on the big screen/ TV feed) shows it clearly.

Hard to feel to critical of reds performance as so close to tries with forward pick and goes and backs did ok but missed a big name player called Kerevi. Reds got a lot of good players but just need one or more super stars like Kerevi in the backs. IMO with players they had they played to potential.

That screen shot is interesting WOB, and I didn't see all the game because of no power, but I wonder when we post pics like that what does it show? I mean is that as he about to force the ball or after he has forced it? I sure the TMO call was correct, just not sure how a single screen shot tells us much without before and after. If I could remember where I saw it, I saw one similar a year or so back, but with a series of pics and he had forced it then arm came up off it. The ref was right in that one too!

I know what you're saying & I'm mindful of Newman's history incl his howler last week but just to clarify, as far as i can piece together Newman saw enough in the end-on shot to make him think a potential knock on had occurred. He then called up some footage from one of the fixed cams (aka iso- for isolated) cams that aren't available to the OB director: the still was taken by someone adjacent to the iso-cam, it's not a grab from the actual iso-cam footage.
