I’m calling billshit. The same ‘rumours’ were spread by an anonymous source last year, then amazingly, Reds had highest squad retention in the country.

Call me cynical but I find it a bit convenient these rumours spread the days after Thorn said he would happily coach the Wallabies one day.

Anti-Thorn/Reds personalities exists in the shadows somewhere in Australian Rugby.

Im sure there are players who don't love Thorn's style. Some have already shipped off. Those left over have gone on to grow as individuals and as a group.

TT does not strike me as one of this guys and his insta post says it all. He may want his minutes to be managed a bit better which is fair enough. Not many tight head props at his age have played as much at this and international level as TT.

In all honesty a year or 2 in Japan after the RWC could give us another cycle out of him

ASY (Angus Scott-Young) (Angus Scott-Young)'s dad is a very successful business man and an ex wallaby. I'd imagine he's advising Angus to go overseas and enjoy the game. Then come back and help run the family business.

99% he will study at oxford or cambridge whilst there. Big time academic.

100% they will cater for that and it’s been spoken of already, likely 2024 season post RWC. Which is a shame for Reds but long term it’s the only way to compete and hopefully keep him.

That is what I found strange in the article, no player, especially a young player wants to come off. To compete at his level he has to believe he is the best and the more he plays the better.

It is also hypocritical, if he was looking to cash in elsewhere, proving that you can play 80 minutes is only going to increase his value.

I do however worry that Thorn is too intense in an Eddie Jones/ Cheika type of way where he will have a few great seasons above what people expect but the intensity gets too much for a sustained success.

May as well ask what would happen if the sun fell out of the sky.

No use thinking about 2027 hypotheticals, so much rugby to be played and water to go under the bridge until that point. Who even says those blokes will be relevant in 2027? Not knocking their form but it’s just too far out to even worry about a coach for that RWC.

I actually see TT doing a year or so sabbatical, coming back to Aus , than after 27 WC going north or bsomething. I honestly believe we will find a few players of Island connection going overseas after even 23 WC, getting big coin and then turning out for Tonga/Samoa/Fiji after 3 year stand down. Someone like TT I think will stay with Wallabies until 27 with hope Wallabies will be in with a good chance then. I imagine a number of players in Aus and NZ are thinking on ti.

Not to say I don’t agree in some capacity, but remember the amount of time Thorn spent within the All Black setup. He’s experienced how to sustain success first hand

Out of interest (and apologies if I open a can of worms here) but which test coach hasn’t fallen out with or had personal views on players. Cheika, McKenzie, Eddie Jones, Dwyer, Deans, Greg Smith, McQueen, Connelly & Alan Jones we’re all accused at various times if either playing favourites and/or treating certain players unfairly. There are currently a group of players leaving for OS, at least partly due to not being in the national plans.

We’re going to have a very limited pool to pick from if we only consider coaches who get on with everyone.
