Reds 2020

Sam Greene is 25! Not sure if he wants to come back to Australia but its pretty bloody glaring that we are stuck for experienced 10s at the moment and he is still in Japan. Perhaps he wants to play for them?

As for your reference to Gordon being "scintillating" v the Vikings. That's a big stretch in my eyes. He was more than solid, and quite impressive. An excellent prospect that's for sure.

To my eye, he was very, very impressive.

Jim Tucker also suggesting Wright will be captain, at 22 years old, is he the youngest captain in recent history?

except that the Reds didn't lean on Greene at all pretty much. All but ignored them.

Of course the balance to Gilmore's statement is are the young fellahs prepared to hang around and do the hard yards for a few years to mature? Greene clearly wasn't and as a result we may not get him back.

Couple ways that cat could be skinned. You're right about Greene. It's Mcintyre I always felt for - kinda have sympathy for Mason as well. Agree with Adam84 that Gilmore is just looking out for the young 'stars' and asking people for a dose of reasonable expectation.

Really Wright, you would have thought Rodda was certain, specially with McReight coming through and pushing for the 7 jersey.

Wright will be entrenched as the back up No 7 to Hooper when the test matches start. If the Reds don't do all they can to keep him, he could be another Liam Gill case and head off overseas long before his time.

It was mentioned in an article last year (by Thorne or a fellow forward) the amount of respect Wright had from the players, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was captain. I can see the backrow being Wright with the other two spots rotating between, McReight, Salakaia-Loto and ASY (Angus Scott-Young) (when Fraser is on, Wright will go to blindside)

He is signed for another two years, not ready for the exodus club just yet, a lot can happen in 2 years

Greene was always the better player, but he got people offside for whatever reasons. Its a shame - because he is a running rugby flyhalf with an enormous boot! Something we are very short of.

I can't see how Wright being Captain or not being Captain really means anything to who will start and who won't or who'll get big minutes and who won't. He was always going to play big minutes.

As you look through the Reds this year and try and get a handle on how they'll go I can't help but thinking where the match up advantages are? Who realistically could be considered as the best of the best at their position in Super Rugby. Like top 3 in their position ? In looking at that there aren't many that currently are (Rodda???) but there are a couple like Tupuo and Petaia that have the potential to be . JOC (James O'Connor) too if the redemption journey continues. Is it enough though?
