Reds 2020

I'd be interested in knowing how you could be sure it was Rory and not Richie? I walked past one of them at Belconnen Mall last year and had no inkling of which one it was.

Think it still counts because they both play for the same team in France, but i genuinely forgot they were twins. I remember when I was working at the Force that Richie was slightly heavier than Rory and the Arnold i saw was fairly lean.

Yeh I imagine that’s why Ryan opted to be a sole trader and work with the Reds as a consultant. Means he has flexibility to jump between a few teams as needed. Once the Reds have a clearer direction for 2021 and onwards I’m sure he will feature somehow, and it helps that he will be staying in Brisbane in the meantime.

I'm fairly sure Richie is moving on from Toulouse. Remember reading somewhere they'd only overlap for a few games (pre-covid at least).

It’s all dependent on whether a broadcast deal can be sorted, and how much is paid... if the broadcasters are paying pittance, then Vunivalu’s contract won’t be the only one been torn up

It gives the wing option of Daugunu and Vunivalu for 2021-2022

We might see young Josh Flook get some game time as a winger in Super Rugby this year.

Speight came for a gig and his wifes family is based in Brisbane ..I think? Would have been surplus to requirements next year but nice to have. He's been a great player for Aus rugby, was positive signing for the Reds this year, a 32 yr old veteran of 128 Super Rugby games and still plenty of speed and big hits to dish out, so all the best to him and his future increased earning capacity!

Well he only had 18 months left on his Reds contract, and would have then struggled to get a new lucrative contract at 33/34. So, it does serve him better to sign for 3 years now which will take him through to 35/36?
And, clearly it saved the Reds some money as well.

Good bloke, has provided a lot of service to Australian Rugby

Yeah - I thought Henry had been excellent. He seemed to have rolled back the years.

Yep agree, because he was auditioning to get another zero added to the back of his impending overseas contract.

That’s not a dig at the bloke by the way, but I saw this coming as soon as he signed a short term deal.

Yeah - he’s at that age where I don’t think anyone should begrudge him making what he can. He’s been a fantastic servant of Australian rugby and it’s been great to have him in the Reds jersey even if it has only been for such a short time.

Sleights comments:

“Firstly, the opportunity to experience an elite Rugby program which is surrounded and upheld by quality people, who have a genuine care for the person and the professional. This group and the organisation have demonstrated that the Reds are a destination club that will allow players to be their absolute best and the strong culture here is something that I know that I will deeply miss.

“My family and I are unbelievably grateful that, from the Board down, our request was dealt with respect and that the organisation was ultimately sympathetic to the opportunity that lies in front of us. I know that this place has an exciting future and I look forward to being able to say with enormous pride that I pulled on the Queensland Reds jersey, when the organisation achieves the success that it deserves”.

what happened to that gun young winger from UQ? Was a start at school (Terrace) and chased by league? Thought he had some sort of contract. I remember him scoring a cracking hattrick for UQ in a final at Ballymore a couple of years ago.

Will Eadie I think?

Is there any word or any chance for a crowd for the SUNCORP July 3 Reds v Waratahs match. NRL in NSW is up to 10,000 from July 1.
