It was in an article somewhere, but it was described as Athletes vs football players.

Good rugby players are the balance of both, and all teams need a balance between those types. Far too often in Australian rugby in recent years we have gone for athletic players over footballs players, it starts in juniors and flows through rep-teams etc selecting young players because they’re big and strong. physical attributes only get you so far, but if you can’t catch and pass effectively then all the height and weight means sweet f-all.

Interestingly enough, I saw a byline that the Kiwis are now shifting to a weight based school grading system. Hopefully we'll do something similar as what you described just produces lazy athlete's as they grew up just being able to steam roll others. So they were never incentivized to develop their skills.

Will be interesting to see how we can get Paisami and Petaia into the same match-day XV next year. It would be a dangerous centre combination in light of what we've seen from both so far. Does Hunter make the move to 12?

Jordy can also play 15, 11/14, and I’m sure he could play 12 if he wanted.

Jordy just needs to rest, recover and let his body harden.

Unfortunately for Jordan, a long time until that decision needs to be made.

Well we just found our way to have Petaia and Paisami on the field at the same time, then leaving Jock, CFS and Filipo to fight out the 14 jersey. If Lucas’s kicking game improves dramatically then we have a great problem to deal with.

A great dilemma to have. Who has the better passing game?

Anyone know Angus Blythe? Every time he gets up off the ground he has a huge grin on his face. Is that game play or does he just love the tough stuff that much?

Jock will hopefully grow into a proper fullback for us for years to come, he looks to have a real football brain.

At this stage, it's only a dangerous combination for one or two matches. In all honesty, Hunter has shown more promise this year than Jordan did in his stints. Id be properly managing JPs game and contact time over the next two years. They did it with Thor and it just shows the same slow development should have been done for Jordan.

True , but a bit tough to slow him down when he was getting mentioned as a Wallaby at 18 years of age and got picked for the RWC last year despite being injured and played well once he got on the paddock .

I’m with you though on getting his body right. The amount of injuries and niggles he has had in the last two years could end up compromising his future if not managed well.

And then there is the dilemma of fitting Vunivalu into the team next year! Jock, Jordy, Vunivalu back three could be lethal.

Hopefully yesterday’s win will lay a good platform for the rest of the season.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one.
