Reds 2019

Not saying that any of those three shouldn't have a top up, Strewth, but in the past top ups were only offered to Wallabies with 2 years in the side - remember the cock up about the Wallaby Captain, Ben Mowen, not being offered a top up because he hadn't been in the squad the required 2 years. Has there been a change of eligibility? If not, then I don't think either of Rodda or Timu would yet be on a top up from the ARU.
Rodda debuted in 2017, and his contract is for 2019+ so should be eligible.

Timu probably not

that was a pretty vicious attack on Higs - who has now been a Captain at 2 teams....can't be a coincidence. When he moves on - expect Rodda to fill the leadership role with Kerevi VC. Noone else really and Rodda looked like he was stepping up to it v Sunwolves - just has to learn the art of ref chat and game tactics which will come in time.

RE: Liam Wright as future leader - hasn’t it be a long standing rumour that McMahon is on his way to Reds for 2019 and the RWC year?

Wright won’t see too much starting time if that’s the case.

I’ve heard strong suggestions that McMahon ain’t coming back to Ballymore.

I filled in the survey yesterday that the QRU emailed out. Have to say that whilst I'll be renewing my memberships, my feelings about it are not really covered by the answer options.

In future I'd like them to include another answer;

"Yes I'll renew due to habit, stubbornness, loyalty and or stupidity."

Survey is here if you are interested and didn't get the email;

Anyone else get kicked out of their seats before the presentation was over on Friday night? Called Suncorp and made a complaint mainly due to the way another couple near us were treated by security. The event organiser from Suncorp was really nice, apologetic and extremely pissed off with the staff.

Like RT I am always going to re-sign for membership but if others were treated the way we were and are fifty fifty or even at the game for the first time there is no way they will. Such a poor experience. I am going to call the Reds today to let them know of my complaint with Suncorp. Not for anything to happen just so they are aware.

Does anyone know if McGahan is employed by the Reds or by RA? I thought in Melbourne he was employed by Rebels, but I think I heard that Wessels is actually employed by RA and placed and paid for by Rebels, so I was wondering if this was the case for Tony McGahan also?

When the Force/ARU Alliance agreement was in place everyone at the Force, admin, players, coaches, were employed by the ARU. The force didn't have anyone on the books.

Bit of a legacy of that arrangement I suspect

Genia back to the Reds in 2019?

While Will would benefit any team, we've got three young halfbacks, all in my mind have shown promise. The money Will deserves and wants in my mind would be better spent on developing the outside backs to give Stewart better options.

I would welcome Will back to the Reds with open arms, but I feel its a 'marquee' signing for the sake of it.

Based on decisions to date, WG coming back is not in keeping with Thorn's youth policy. Nor the CFO's required moneyball strategy for 2019 given the $$ playing club footy next year.

agreed. I'd prefer we focus on Tuttle, McDermott and Sorovi.

Happy to take Izzy as we desperately need a fullback.

Now we just need a decent goal kicker. An off-season focus should be on getting some specialist training for the likely candidates (Tuttle, Stewart, Paia'aua, Daugunu, Tupou...)
