In reference to the McBain/Slack/Miller coaching fiasco above, let’s not forget that Miller is now QRU Chairman. Apparently he was just wandering around the Ballymore carpark when the position came up.

Let's see. On the one hand you have a player with a medical problem to do with addiction who should be helped and supported, not shuned, by his community. And on the other side you have a guy who's imaginary friend talks to him about sending people to his imaginary hell.
Which would I rather have play on my team?

You are wrong zero cool. both players you mentioned were on team last year and nothing was great about our attendance.

Folau is arguably the best back playing for Australia atm. amazing how someone wouldn’t want him.

You think Folau is going to sell out Suncorp?!

Let's look at the first three home games because that's probably the period you'd get bums on seats from a star player regardless of the results, anymore than that and fans will see a trend.

Last season ('17) we had 15k, 18k, 17k respectively. This season ('18) we have had 11k, 12k, and 14k. Even if we extend this out to 4 games it's only ('18) 12k and ('17) 11k respectively. But in defence of '17 that was easter weekend so attendance was always going to be low.

So I think we can say some combination of Quade Cooper, and/or Karmichael Hunt put at least some of those bums on seats. I think the days of getting 40k to Suncorp for a Super game are behind us at least for the moment. But even a 4k increase over the first few games is still worth 360k a year -- that's half of Quade's salary right there. If you're expecting 20k, 30k there is only one player who could hope to bring those kinds of numbers -- winning!

I don't think Izzy draws a crowd. Maybe a few. Maybe helps fill a gap that QC (Quade Cooper) left.

But he helps to win games. Him for Toua is no match. And winning helps to draw a crowd. Undoubtably.

Izzy would be a fantastic signing.

I don't know, I feel like we have a few guys who could play 15 in the mid term (Stewart - but we'll need him at 10, Daugunu, Perese, and maybe Jooste - don't know what happened to him). Folau is making it clear that he's 15 or he's spitting the dummy. Mix in a healthy dose of it's going to be a long term 5 year contract, not entirely sure it's a signing we'd love in 3 years.

Today Izzy has been tweeting more stuff about gays needing to repent before going to hell.

I'm not sure the ARU will want him re-signing.

If the reds only pay 150k why the hell wouldn’t we want him?
Regardless of anything else he’s exceptional value to the reds at that cost.
Why not try match the tahs excellence at having others fund their team.

The Reds have to get Hunt to leave first.

Otherwise they can't use the marquee spot which is outside the salary cap rules and can be boosted with third party deals.

Hunt and Cooper are both currently still signed for 2019 I believe.

They could always sign Isaia Toeava. He's in terrific form over at Clermont.

Tim Gavel (Canberra sports journo) tweeted this:

Brumbies have confirmed they approached Quade Cooper to see if he was interested in moving to Canberra but he told coach Dan McKellar that he wanted to stay in Queensland .

Ah ok. That’s a bit of a pickle...
Is hunt not playing for norths because he doesn’t want to or they don’t want him? If the former you’d expect a move is on the way.
The boxlike nature of Toeavas head is surely worth complementing if you end up running low

My understanding is that neither Reds or Norths will release him to train with their squads. Maybe someone can confirm?

If Hunt and Frisby get taken off the books, we should be able to get Folau. My concern with our existing wingers and Folau is that leaves no tactical kicker in the backfield and with no 2nd playmaker on the field at all.

But still - Get folau. Keep Aidan but lose Maranta. Lose Nabuli and get Magnay back. Lose Lance and have a 2nd young flyhalf in I.Lucas or Creighton. Lose G.Smith & Douglas and get Mcmahon.

Oh for goodness sake, IS. I get that the community is split (and not an even split) right now, but he has been chased as a draw card across three codes.

This said, the difference of Folau or no Folau to the Reds seems a bit mute. If you were to take a back three player with draw qualities (and with anti draw qualities) why wouldn't you run with Hunt?

Wish Folau all the best, but if options have gotten shaky for Super Rugby stars, we can thank shrink to greatness.
I’m trying not to let my view about his value as a player interfere. I just have not met anyone who goes to a game or watches on tv because Folau is playing.
I don’t know what the other codes get out of him - meaning I don’t know not that I reckon they’re wrong to chase him.
When has he won us a game?
Assuming he takes a couple of high balls is that really what puts rugby bums on rugby seats - I wouldnt have thought so.

Must of deleted the tweets cause I see nothing on his Twitter today with what you suggesting

Here you go - the tweet below from his wife pisses me off too. Stay the F out of team selection politics!!!! (If she's tweeting it, he's sure as shit saying it at home & that can't make for team harmony at the 'tahs....)

In 6 years as a professional rugby player getting paid obscene amounts of money Folau is no better today than he was when he first ran on. He remains unable to execute kicks with any certainty or safe (to team purposes) technique (a fundamental core skill for a Fullback - stick to netball Mrs Folau) and cannot pass to a basic standard I would expect of a first grader let along full time professional. If anybody signs him in Australia it should be on the basis that he plays right wing and nowhere else. Don't like it he can go. Or better yet invite him to sign an incentive based contract that he must learn to kick and pass before he gets paid.

I’m getting the feeling he wants out.
This is just taunting, daring them to discipline him.
Is all publicity good publicity?
League never seems to suffer for being in the media for ostensibly the wrong reasons.

Yeah it does seem like he's taunting them so if/when RA snaps and disciplines him, he can bitch about "muh religious freedoms" and rile up the Ray Hadleys, Andrew Bolts, Miranda Devines, Lyle Sheltons, Mark Lathams and the curly-haired prick on sky
