There is a significant difference between what is going on with the decision over the number of Australian Super teams and a potential decision to pay out the contract of an individual player.

Haha - yeah, I actually misread your previous comment and I thought you were being serious. Bit slow on the uptake.

Well on the subject of halfbacks, Stade Francais won't release Genia without a hefty fee, so looks like his chance of coming back for 2018 are unlikely.

To be fair, I'm not terribly fussed at this. If we got Genia back next year and his knees held up, it'd only be a band-aid fix for our problems. Tuttle's performances this year suggest the problem isn't really with our 9 and the cash Genia would demand, would cause other gaping holes not to be plugged.

Yes I'm happy for Genia to go to another franchise.

Gotta go with what we've got. Tuttle seems to be coming on fine. Frisby a great let down this year - thought 2017 would be great for him but not so.

I just wouldn't look at Genia. Crook knees and lots of other negatives compared with on;y a few short term positives.

Rarely does a great player (in the past) come back and replicate that form towards the end of his career.

Supporters perceptions would be interesting.

A year or so the vast majority would have voted for Quade handsdown.

His form (maybe except the last game) hasn't warranted that belief (well, as yet anyway)

But agree with Liam

Well, let's look at it this way. The Reds have looked a lot better with Quade at 10. McIntyre is just not up to it. So was it worth bringing QC (Quade Cooper) back? Yes. Not many expected it to be like old times but no doubt in my mind we needed a quality 10. Who else was there?

Genia - If Tuttle hadn't emerged I'd be all for him back at the Reds but that is a lot less sure than it was. Would be great to get him back in Aus but any franchise will do.

Gill - ABSOLUTE NO BRAINER. BRING THE MAN HOME.

Biggest problem for the Reds signing Gilly is that they will have to pay his total contract.

Cannot see the ARU chippimg in because of Hooper, Pocock and the emergence of Alcock.

Don't know if the Reds could afford him on their own

While Gill is a game winner in himself, I thought Gunn showed enough last year to showcase he's got the talent and we should see what he's capable of.

To be honest, I wouldn't be wanting to spend the extra cash on a superstar (i.e. Gill and Genia) rather I'd be using it for attracting a higher skilled coach to support Stiles. We'd probably see a better return on a new Defensive and Skills coach being brought in that we would Gill. Hell, if G Smith is wanting to retire in Australia, we'd be idiots not to hire him as a breakdown and forward skill coach or consultant.

I guess, if the QRU have money to splurge, I'd rather they invest it into the organisation rather than individual brilliance. Unfortunately, it'll take one injury and we'd be in a worse position than we are this year.

the interesting thing recruitment wise is how the players from a franchise that is kicked out get spread out. We need to have a cheque book ready as soon as a decision is made.

Obviously the ARU have literally NFI what they were doing but the suggestion seemed to be that Contracted Wallabies (McCalman, Timani, DHP etc.) would be more or less given the choice of where they'd go, contracted Super Players would get asked to go to specific franchises, and uncontacted players all round would be encouraged to go to specific sides but the ARU would have literally no control over that, even in the best of circumstances from their perspective.

The bloke we need is Jonno Lance.

I would actually place him behind Foley but in front of Quade in resect of Wallaby selection (although for some reason I don't believe that will happen).

IMO he would be a better starting 10 at the Reds.

Having said that I am a firm believer that Lance will be lost to Australian rugby, if and when the Force are expunged. That is a great shame.

What you're not considering Scrubber is that Quade can improve his play for the rest of this year and next year.

He would be a good replacement for Hunt if he (Karmichael) leaves though........

If the force went, both brumbies and rebels would jump on lance. Both have 10s that are ITM cup castoffs.

Sure Quade can improve his play. On his day QC (Quade Cooper) is the best 10 running around. His days seemed numbered.

I'm just sick and tired waiting for it

Based on form this year Lance is a fair way ahead of Quade.
