The Reds could be the first team to have a player/coach on their roster.. insert Brad Thorn would be the perfect Mr Impact in 2016.

Can't help but feel like having a 40-year old player/coach at Super Rugby level in 2016 is more of an indictment on how fucked the program currently is than anything else..

Need to get the facts straight.
A) BT is not coaching the Reds in any way - he is a coach in the Emerging Players Squad
B) He's retired from playing - there is no requirement that he play in his contract
So stick that up your pipe & smoke it:p

Apologies, should have said "the thought of".

Unfortunately I don't think any of the above is going to right the ship in 2016.

Even though the nominal best team on paper is not the be all and end all, that makes for tough reading when prior to Rd 1 2015 a lot of us were expecting the Reds to put out

1. Slipper
2. Hanson
3. Holmes
4. Simmons
5. Horwill
6. Thomson
7. Gill
8. Schatz
9. Genia
10. QC (Quade Cooper)
11. Sautia
12. Tapuai
13. Kerevi
14. JOC (James O'Connor)
15. Hunt

16. Fainga'a
17. Daley
18. Talakai
19. McDuling
20. Browning
21. Frisby
22. Fainga'a
23. Turner

(Worth noting though that the Reds never came close to fielding this side through misadventure and misfortune)

I can see Tui starting ahead of Browning.

Think he means Hendrick Tui, the Japanese international.

Don't think he'd be available for round 1 given the Japanese league.

Some points to the above:

• 37-man Senior Squad confirmed for 2016 Super Rugby season
• 20 players retained from 2015 squad, 11 of which re-signed to Reds
• Eight players progressed from Elite Development Squad to Senior Squad
• Eight new players to pull on Reds jersey for first time in 2016
• Former Australian Schools Rugby and NRL player Lagi Setu joins squad on training contract

The St.George Queensland Reds have confirmed a 37-man Senior Squad for the 2016 Super Rugby season, with eight fresh faces in total joining the ranks at Ballymore Stadium.

Also in the news today, James Slipper should return by Round 5(possibly earlier) whilst Douglas is likely to miss the entire season with a 7-9month rehab.

Only 4 outright locks, one missing almost all of the season and one of them in his first professional season.

Couple of those backrowers may be spending some time with their heads between some front row arses.

and Hunt listed as a centre

there was also talk that they are still looking for an experienced flyhalf to shepherd McIntyre and Greene.

I wouldn't be surprise if they look for a lock too. Perhaps even a Dan Heenan or someone from Japan.
