And Curtis isn't as good in the line out, which is critical when you have two locks who aren't renowned line-out specialists... Shatzy will play 8 this weekend, when Simmons and Horwill come back Browning might get a start at 8.

I would think if you go back to the Reds threads from 2012 up until now you'll find Schatz name pops up quite a bit, mostly from blokes saying he isn't up to S15 level and has reached his potential. I can't help but think if his shortcomings have been noticed for 3+ years then maybe there is some merit to moving him on. Keeping in mind though we're just a bunch of guys on the internet.

The fact remains, however, that Schatz has been playing his role for the Reds well enough to retain a spot and largely because there hasn't been anyone better rock up to Ballymore to replace him.

Adam Thomson and a constantly improving Curtis Browning may be just the players to make Schatz more of an asset to the Reds.

Without doubt Schatz is one of the premier number 8s at lineout time in the comp but he's also one of the weakest ball running number 8s in the comp. He does his job in defence and at the breakdown but certainly isn't a huge physical presence on the field.

When they're lacking that from elsewhere in their forward pack it creates a problem but it seems that Thomson and Browning help give them better balance which means Schatz can do what he's good at without the team failing in other areas that he doesn't contribute much to.

His problem is that he's all work rate no impact. The man needs some angry pills.

We're all out after Horwill chugged the entire supply.

Reading some of the irate posts in this thread, surely there are GAGRs who have plenty of spare pills they could donate to the Reds.

Can't see it. What is it?

Status from G&GR Twitter about a physio and S&C walking out on a club, "before the trip to Africa" - appended by "#RedFaces"

I don't think any of the Aussie teams are in Africa until Rd.6, and that's the Force - so I'm just a bit baffled. Reds won't be there until Rd. 9.

The hashtag makes it pretty obvious who the tweet is in reference to but something like this would be pretty internal to Reds/QRU, you'd think. If it is the case, I wonder if they walked on their own or if there is some credence to the notion that's been floated around concerning their ability as an S&C staff and our player injury rates.

The only thing I know for sure is we've had something like 3 or 4 seasons in a row where we've been dealing with insane amounts of injuries from early in the season onward. I also know Ollie wasn't head S&C for this entire period, though (although I believe he was in an assistant role in 2012 and 2013?).

Maybe the Reds should look at the training system that the Tah's introduced last year. They had a great run of keeping most of the guys on the field. It won't help this season but if they were to be involved from the end of the Super season then it would give them 6 months to work with the guys who aren't on Wallaby duty.

Ollie has fucked off? Ok. The only logical solution is for whoever his deputy was to step up for the rest of the year while we look to bring in someone more experienced post-world cup

I was chatting with Nathan last Saturday. He seemed happy enough then.
