I'm interested in hearing some name if you don't mind? Obviously this is just your opinion, so no need to worry about it not coming to fruition etc. It will be very interesting what comes of all this, and the sooner we know who we have on the books the better. Not having a crack at you mate, but all this whispering and gossiping could be avoided if we were just upfront.

Sorry guys wasn't trying to imply I know of leavers was more just voicing a gut feeling. If I were to take a crack though I'd wager Frisby may be off to another Aussie team unless the Reds had wrapped him up prior to the genia injury as his stock as a starting halfback has risen in the last month or so. In that case I think we will retain Lucas as 9 cover.

I doubt anyone would be chasing Frisby too hard in Australia, he wouldn't start over any of the other starting half backs, much more likely Lucas will get offered money to move, he offers a lot more.

Probably a good move for him in the end, the Reds can't keep operating a Quirk, Schatz, Gill back row and that was probably always going to see Quirk dropped.

Wilson, I thought on 2014 Quirk was the weakest link in the back row, but I think he will ultimately be a better player than Schatz. He offers a lot more, but had a quiet season.
As Schatz is really our only 8 option I can understand keeping him over Quirk. Whilst you do need to look at the future, you can't do it at the expense of today.

Potentially he does but with Browning there hopefully offering more than either it pushes it into Schatz favour, particularly with the strength of our set piece this year, the role of an 8 in anchoring the scrum sometimes gets forgotten when complementing or criticizing scrum performance. That said it probably boils down to the fact that Schatz was resigned earlier in the season and then as the need for that dynamic back rower became more pronounced Quirk's value dropped. Doesn't hurt that it's easier to recruit a big unit when you can play them in 6 or 8 than when you need them to play 8 either.

Curious why you think he has more potential? Schatz's height and lineout ability immediately puts him over Quirk imo.

Quirk is 1cm taller than Schatz. I imagine Schatz is more prominently used as he is more experienced as a line out jumper at this level as he has been around for longer.
Schatz' involvements individually are rarely tremendously effective. This isn't based on this year, this is based on watching him since his debut.
Quirk has shown the ability to have strong tackle breaking and carrying runs, and good hits in defence. In addition he has shown in 2014 that he is able to carry the same work rate as Schatz. His fault has been the inability to do both at the same time.
Further to this, looking at Quirk, he has a frame that still has a higher potential for physical development, which will only improve this further.
Schatz best season to date was 2013, but he still didn't show he was really anything more than a solid, hard working back rower. I'm not saying those players aren't necessary, but we have an abundance of them at QLD and it's impact we need out of one.

While Schatz isn't as tall as Quirk his speed in the lineout is the key. He is one of the quickest jumpers and as a result Simmons calls to him a lot.
Also the efforts of a work horse are underrated. Schatz gets through a mountain of work on the field and keeps going all game.
He is also the type of guy you want in a team as he busts his ass on the training field and has good leadership quality. He captained Sunnybank Premier Grade as a 19 year old.

I think Schatz would be invaluable if we didn't also have Gill, Robinson and Quirk in similar moulds. My biggest reason for singling him out is because what he lacks as a number 8 is what we really need as a team.

TWAS - understand your argument but the bloke does a truckload of effective work all over the paddock. Liam is a true keeper.
I like Robinson and what he brings to the team similar stuff to Eddie.
Hate to see either go anywhere except to the Normanby
