Everyone I saw there seemed pretty happy about it, even with the result, it probably won them a few fans. Would've been pretty difficult to charge for admission having it at bond, probably would've cost a decent chunk of the takings in extra staff and setting up some kind of fencing. The only thing to complain about was the choice of beer - VB or Hahn Light :(.

Karmichael is a risk, he is a risk because he hasn't played rugby in 4 years...

Whether he was conditioning himself for AFL over the past 4 years is irrelevant, you can bet your bottom dollar he is fitter and keeps his body in better condition then 95% of the Reds players. Yes AFL clubs focus on endurance over explosiveness, but its not as though he had a physique of a marathon runner. He is sill over 90kg at his AFL playing weight, which is comparable to the likes of Rob Horne and Jesse Mogg.

I think the biggest risk will be the time it takes for him to adapt, running lines, reading the play and taking the right options. He was out of the game for longer the Izzy so his transition will likely be a little bit slower, though i don't doubt he will be able to make the transition.

At the same he has a much better base, having played the game in high school and France compared to Folau who had almost no exposure to the game. In one of Izzy's first games he was yellow carded and didn't realize it meant he had to leave the field, thinking it was like soccer. Hunt wont have any where near as much trouble learning the rules so will be able to focus more on his game. The potential to play and train with one of the NRC sides will also be a huge help - get a few games in, identify what he'll need to focus on in the off season and be better prepared come the start of the super season.

Is Hunt a chance of playing NRC? The sooner he is involved the better. Even if he sits on the bench for the season the experience will be a big boost by the time next Super Rugby season starts.

This was in the courier mail the other day but there's been no official word either way. You'd have to think they're considering it, given the obvious benefits, I imagine the only sticking point would be what sort of break hunt wants before starting. Even if he doesn't play I'd expect him to be involved in training in some capacity.

Isn't one of the issues the fact that Khunt's body shape and conditioning is currently all wrong for Rugby?

There would be injury risk in running him out too early in an NRC game, when the powers that be clearly want him ready for the Reds (and a possible tilt at Gold).

It's not Ideal but I doubt there's any real risk, particularly if he's playing in the outside backs. Given the professional environment he's been in I'd expect it to be at least as good as any of the club players involved.

I walked withi 5 metres of him yesterday. It was very exciting. One of my favourite players and grossly under rated.

How were the chicken legs?

That's the thing that always stand out about Holmes to me, somehow. The chicken legs.

BTW, he scrummaged pretty damn well vs NSW Country.

I wouldn't say his body shape and conditioning is all wrong at all. Currently he probably has too much aerobic fitness and not quite enough muscle mass, but it doesn't look like too much an issue to me.

It will probably take a season to be at the level he would want, but his natural body shape is actually more suited to rugby than AFL. He's a solid guy (for a back) who is not made for long endurance running that is required by AFL.

Interesting Wayne Smith in the Oz today suggesting Higgers may still be a chance. Has he not re-signed with the Rebels?

Im still not ready to give up on this one yet, I mentioned on here a few months ago that there were whisperings about him coming back to QLD. The fact there is still a bit of smoke means there may be a fire here.

Most of the articles re: Higgers re-signing with the Rebels are over 12months old, plenty of time to have a change of heart and as much as we all like to think players stay loyal, there are ways to break contracts.

Will be interesting to see if anything more eventuates. However, if the Vito signing comes off then I'd say the rumors are dud.

Eurosport 4:30pm replay of Racing Metro vs Toulon. JOC (James O'Connor) @ 15 and played very well according to reports.

Looking very slick and scored a nice solo try. Still one of the best in the world.

Kerevi was injured and did not play today. Does anyone know what changes the Reds are making to get the players less injury prone?

BUT TWAS - you haven't been signed to a "reported $700,000 contract.

In the interests of objectivity I understand what you are saying BUT i just hope his body is up to serious contact after 4 years of AFL.

Well then lucky that contract will have him doing less of what injured him isn't it? High volume running.

The point I was making is that I understand how he would get more injuries playing AFL than he would playing rugby.

What about Drew Mitchell as the Wallaby signing?

I reckon he went overseas prematurely after the career ending injury scare.

He has been in great form at Toulon and his deal finishes this year.

I'd bet Ewen would have him in the 30 man squad if he was available.

He's on a two year deal he'd have to break to come home. Not impossible but unlikely given he'd probably want to go back after the world cup. Also, like Ioane he might be a bit to expensive given the rest of the siginings (and potentially Vito). I think he'll stay in France and be in AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)'s ear to join him and Gits after the world cup.
