I think the new laws are pretty much the same for locks. Front row body position is much more critical
Yes I agree. I don't think there's ever been a time when locks didn't have to push. Oh wait, yes there is, they are called uncontested scrums. ;-)

Lote Tuquiri looking for a new club & open to a return to the good side. Chase him Reds! Good replacement for Digby imo. Have heard he's just bought a house up here to.

Where is Butler leaving to? Had hoped to see more of him in Red.

As soon as I read about Tquiri I instantly thought overseas, because of the 'alleged' ARU business. It would be good though if he could play for one of the AUS S15 sides though. The Reds would be great!

I think playing international Rugby may have passed him by but he'd still be great at Super level, so probably wouldn't have to negotiate an ARU contract.
Most likely Europe or Japan for his retirement fund though I suppose.

I believe any Aus-based player must be 'available' for the Wallabies, and their Super contract has to be signed off by the ARU.

Locks have to put in more of an effort from stationary position now. The whole impact has changed. It's the same scrum rules as from around the very late '80's or early 90's'. Around 89 I think. Whole impact changes as the hooker has to be able to hook the ball and is not able to push due to the hooking foot being forward. That changes locks pushing ability etc. put it this way - the whole dynamics change.

yeah I know . I packed in both. There is no difference for locks.

I think Lote should realistically look towards Japan if he wants to continue his career.

I can't see his body standing up to Super Rugby for any great period of time.

I'm a Tahs fan and a Wests Tigers fan so I have watched him play most of his football in the last decade and whilst he was certainly a good player when he returned to the NRL in 2010, his body has really struggled in the last two years.

Recurrences of various injuries and really long recovery times have meant he's been fit for very little football.
