Good advice, oztimmay. The carpark at Rod Laver arena opposite AAMI Park will fill up very quickly and traffic will be a dog's breakfast.

The river taxi from Southbank to Rod Laver arena should be running tonight for those late-comers (or fat lazy bastards like me) who are coming in via Flinders st station.

Sound advice :) I'm coming from the east and I'll i'll probably jump off the Train at East Richmond. Might be 5min extra walk but I can get to an ATM before hand and at squeeze in a few pints at he Swan/Valcluse/RCH/9T4.

Note to the wise - I tried to get into the Precinct Hotel after the Stormers match. Initially they refused entry because I was wearing club colors. Dunno if that is a BS rule to screen people (read: groups of blokes), but be weary if you are looking for a pint after the match. I haven't heard of others places along Swan St that do this. Think they might have a massive problem trying to enforce that rule when 20,000 our out of AAMI park and 80,000 pour out of the MCG :)

It's nights like tonight I love how long an AFL game is. Won't have to be trying to leave AAMI at the same time as 70,000 Collingwood ferals. Unless Sydney are pumping them and they all start filing out just after half time that is.

The Precinct definitely are no footy colours, along with the GB and possibly the Swan. The London dont have a problem with them, and pretty sure the Corner don't either.

Personally I think it's a dumb rule, but it doesn't bother me - i'll just go do my drinking elsewhere. Bar 9T4, RCH, Beretta's Valcluse, Holliava, Cricketer's Arms, the Royal Hotel (classy joint) and the Post Office Hotel have no problems with colors as they are full of Rebels gear before and after matches.

Holliava is the best bar on the street. Highly recommended.

Holliava is good, but being the first bar everyone decides to go in there. Agree about the no food problem - never tried the Pizza over the road but the Potato Cakes at the station are fantastic after a belly full of Lager :)

Anywhere that serves Fat Yak I'm in. Most Bars along Swan serve it, so naturally I gravitate towards those bars.

I'm torn about who to support this game. I want the Rebels to win, but I also want the Waratahs to make it 3 Australian teams in the top 6.

Guess I'll just have to support them both for this one.

P.S. No injuries to any Wallabies, thanks.

Never understood bars turning away rugby fans, AFL and soccer I can understand, but one of the joys of supporting rugby is having a bit of banter with the opposition fans. The bar manager is probably wondering why they run at a loss on Friday and Saturday nights

Bars in Melbourne won't know the distinction. It's not like the bars mentioned are particularly classy joints anyway, any reputations have been long-trashed!

The Corner is the best option IMO. Easy walk, not pretentious, good kitchen and at the station.

Precinct turning away colors is the stupidest thing. Keep advertising it on the Radio when all you know is footy Luke Darcy and than turn away the footy fans. This pub is nice and have gone in there in a Rebels Jersey before.

BUT PINTS COST TO MUCH so i'd rather go elsewhere. Post office before the game is good, if you get there before 6 pm it's still happy hour and only $7 a pint, bar staff are good and even ring the drinks through before poring if it's close to the end of happy hour.

So just watching the early nz game and they had a small window showing the rebels players getting ready and cruze was getting taped up...is he playing or just doing the warm up?
