Rebels v Reds 25/03 @ AAMI

JOC (James O'Connor) seems to have trouble controlling his left to right pass. Every game he will be good for at least two forward passes LtoR and fortunately so far for the Reds when they result in tries, as they did for the first two tries this match, they haven't been picked up by referees. It's a worry that if he does the same at crucial times when/if he returns to the Wallabies, it will come back to bite us on our collective arses. This game he also threw one RtoL which again didn't get picked up. Do some work on your control of the pass, James.

Rebels are looking better each game, just like Carter Gordon. Carter was the standout No 10 tonight and has been for most of 2023 so far.

On the game I thought Gordon was good but JOC (James O'Connor) actually shaded him in my mind, with his limited opportunities he was superb. Wilson outplayed by Ekuasi, I just don’t think Eddie is going to be impressed how easily he’s brought to ground too often, he’s a work horse but there just isn’t anything explosive about it.

Wilkin is the form no.7 in the Aus sides, his ability to get off the ground and go again is superb he’s also the best player in Aus at forming a ruck with speed. His ability to trail a player and prevent isolated ball very good.

Flook is so unassuming but yet so good, he’s just got timing in his game that some high caliber players seem to have.

Rebels missed a lot when Hosea went off, he’s superb at holding a player up and has a great knack for getting his head between players in attack when in tight.

Ryan Lonergan with each week that passes inches closer to Gordon and Tate for that no.2 spot. The intercept that was called back is an issue for Tate as his distribution/option taking just isn’t to the required int standard.

I’m glad you think that BR. I thought it was just me. James does seem to push the flat ball/ forward passes. Not good from someone so experienced.

Man congrats to the rebels. Well done. It takes about 10-15 years to create a competitive team I rekon. Rebels are starting to finally get there. The force did it the year they got shit canned.

The refereeing is all over the show though. One of the last tackles of the game. Tuttle was off his feet and tackled a reds player when he was off his feet. Not sure what they are looking at.

100 percent I was going to say. He threw a handful of forward passes in this game. Most were not called

Do you think that Paisami going off early had an impact? Henry looked good in attack but not sure if the Reds defence suffered without Paisami. Hopefully he is okay, hasn't been having a good run if injuries.

During the warmup prior to the game, the reds run extremely flat in the quick hands drill. Other teams don't. They are obviously training their poor execution so it is habit forming.

Semi related, there is no single area of Tate's current game that isn't signficantly worse than his last two years.

I expect they will spend a significant amount of time during the coming week talking about their deficiencies and poor discipline and do absoloutely nothing at all on the training paddock to address anything they have talked about.
