And we are off...

for the newbies on the board, every year we do Player of the Match votes after each game involving an Aussie team. It is soley for Aussie players and we accumumlate the votes through the season to ultimately come up with the Player of the season for each of the Aussie teams and, obviously, overall.

Check last year's final votes here, here, http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/reds-player-of-the-year/, here and overall here.

Voting is pretty easy. Your basic 3, 2, 1. 3 for the best performer, down the line.

You don't have to vote if you didn't see the match. Try to keep discussion pretty minimal.

No Donkey votes eg 3 pnts to the referee, or 2 pnts to daylight.

And it is 3-2-1s for each team. So here we will do one for the best Tahs and one for the best Rebels.

I'll kick it off:

Tahs:
3 - Phil Waugh - my MOM. Fantastic game from the Tah leader.
2 - Ben Mowen - ruled the lineouts, strong in defence.
1 - Drew Mitchell - dropped a couple, but scored 2 and set up a few.

Rebels:
3 - Julian Huxley - best match I've seen him play for ages. Very composed.
2 - Micheal Lipman - disappointed he went off when he did. Very rugged.
1 - Gareth Delve - very involved.

Who's next?

3. Burgess - most incisive I've seen him in a long time, consistently got the team moving forward.
2. Waugh - Pestilant.
1. Mowen - Very strong, looked good in the line outs.

3. Huxley - looked great at the back, excellent efforts across the park, and excellent link play.
2. Cordingly - desperate efforts across the park, plenty of tackles.
1. Delve - effort again, especially when the game was long out of reach.

Tahs :-
3 - Mowen Lineout, breakdown and carried well. No errors.
2 - Burgess Speed to the breakdown was the best ever. The dominant breakdown work of the Tahs helped his service from there.
1 - Mitchell - great Fantasy Rugby points - top class finishing and a threat all game

Rebels:-
3 - Lipman without his defence of the fringes Burgess would have done much more damage
2 - Delve was outmuscled but defence along with Lipman prevented a total rout
1- Ged Robinson - a very good first up hit out, a lot of potential there
