Rebels 2023

Lock depth an issue given pre-existing injuries, i wouldn’t have labelled Tualima a lock either, he can get away with it at club rugby level but a bit light at Super Rugby level

Team looks light on for mine, in a few areas. It is frustrating looking at the depth of Aussies Abroad and then seeing multiple Super Rugby squads that don't look capable of competing for higher honours. Hope I am wrong

Interesting to see Rob Kearney say he wasn’t impressed with the level of coaching when in Australia. Just putting this on here as Rebels now have Tim Sampson on books now. Perhaps Kearney is a terrible judge of coaching and maybe a little blinded by the resources in Ireland compared to Aus but worth noting

Hard to call him a terrible judge of coach when his had Michael Cheika and Joe Schmidt as coaches at Leinster. Might be blinded going from one the best best set up's in Europe to a Aussie team trying to get there footing in super rugby.

Hence I said perhaps. It is possible he’s a horrible coach or equally Kearney could be a terrible judge. I’m definitely not someone that believes good players understand good administration or coaching by default.

Equally I think been a coach here would be different to other countries as they have to wear more hats here than they would in other countries because of resource gap, where other coaches can allocate with specialty coaches and full time analysts etc.

Needs to be taken in context

Tim Sampson was an outstanding coach for the Force during GRR and that style of play seemed to be his forte, transitioning to Super rugby was a bit more difficult and the Force respected that and decided to build a strong assitant coach platrform below him to enable them all to grow together. He was only replaced because an opportunity to bring Simon Cron on board arose. As an assitant coach I think he will excel for you if given the right tools to do the job and a head coach he can continue to learn from.

So in summary Kearney is correct, the Force set up was not as strong or even close to what he had been used at both club and International level.
