Rebels 2023

Then could sign a Storm winger that isn't an chronically injured like Vunivalu and is elegible for international duties
We did, he was so good RA couldn't afford to keep him any more.

Where are they getting the money for this?
With the departures last season, 2022 Rebels should be well under salary cap. Koroibete, DHP and Isi and none replaced by a big name.

Being under the cap and actually having the money are separate issues...

Bring Isaac Lucas back! I heard he's playing well in Japan and he will be elegible for them in a couple of years.

Rebels should target Aussie players playing overseas to strenght the Wallabies. Not neccesary the big names, spend a lot of money in an AB like TJ Perenara is a waste. Spend that money in Adam Coleman or someone like him

If we got Samu & Nela it would be mainly funded by RA, remember those players get a set amount from each Super Rugby team like when Rodda came back he basically just picked what club he wanted to play for all 4 clubs offered him 300k.

So with Isaac I cant see RA tipping in for him we (as in the wallabies) are pretty deep at 9 atm all spare RA money is going in the "save nela & frost fund"

I cant see Isaac wanting to come back to compete as a 4th string on a 3rd of his wage at best.

Pretty sure Lucas is a fullback/flyhalf?

Look I do agree, I am not a fan of foreign players getting a game while we are limited to picking the wallabies from the 5 super sides
Nah If improves quality of super rugby sides I am all for it ie recruitment of foreign marquee players
. Certainly not hurt the force. And to be frank if going to compete against the kiwis with our 5 sides against their 5 sides it has to be part of the strategy. It is not as if going to be lot of options here given most will choose Europe or Japan which offers more coin.

100% agree!! Even the Crusaders have a crack when it helps... Pablo Matera ring a bell?

Nothing wrong with a big name marquee player to improve any Oz Super Rugby teams, especially if it gets the turnstiles spinning!

How good was Potgieter in the day at the Waratahs...

Crusaders do it well, Leinster have done amazing (tastes like vomit typing this) with there Marquee player selections. Fardy finished with 4 Pro 12/14 titles and a European Cup to his name.

All for it, adds depth to the squad and can attract casual fans who want to see players from there home nation up close. I'm sure last season Force had more Irish fans then ever before with RK at full back.

You mentioning Nonu makes me think of when we recruited Tamati Ellison. Ellison was great for us in 35 games over 3 seasons.
All-time signing. Was fantastic for culture as well, just a shame he always came to us off the back of a full season in Japan and his body was a bit smashed up by the end of the season. But a truly brilliant signing who played some great footy in Melbourne.

Does anyone know what happened to Ilikena Vudogo?

He looked good in QPR and pre-season, and I have to think he would have done a better job at 13 than Ripley who, credit to him, is at the moment a very talented schoolboy playing against men.

Apparently Rebels have signed Mafi from the reds and Talakai is back. Not sure what that means for the current front row stocks. Eloff and Fa’amasuili are both good Super Rugby players potentially international class. Orr and Gibbon doing well, not sure how this fits into the squad unless someone is going somewhere else

Well Rumours that Uelese leaving so Mafi makes sense. Though that now leaves the hooking stocks in queensland fairly rubbish ...

I'd imagine Pone will stay with Talakai as back up.

I would have thought Talakai would have been a target of the Force as they will lose Medrano and likely Holmes. So perhaps Eloff (or Pone) is at the top of their "we desperately need a tighthead" list.
