Surprised we didn't punt Foote. Wonder how assistant Sampson will be.

Don't believe it's the time to punt him. We've gone over all the reasons why this season was not set up for success across this (and other) threads.

TBH the Highlanders' victory probably saves him for another year.

Welcome to your next head coach. No doubt he has been brought on board to slide onto the HC position mid year.

If he becomes head coach I think it'll signal everything wrong with rugby in Aus and modern pro sport. This will seem pretty harsh but he was essentially sacked from his previous job and punted for a better coach. He shouldn't find the next opening. This happened to Foley, Graham, Stiles etc.

They got moved on for a reason, give someone else a go.

Doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be an upgrade on Foote though..

You've got no idea why he wasn't re-signed, in fact alot of us here have got no idea why he wasn't re-signed! Cron hasnt got any experience as Super Rugby head coach, he may have done ok with other teams he has been involved in but he hasn't got the experience of Tim. TIM is a genuinely good guy for whom team culture is very important. Unfortunately we now have a CEO who thinks that winning is everything. Time will tell how this works out. The Force has been through so much shit since it started and die hard fans are starting to waver

With all due respect the Western Force CEO Tony Lewis took the time to personally address the members in the members marque before the match after the decision was announced to explain why they had appointed Simon Cron and why unfortunately they felt the need for the team to move in the direction it is. He was articulate and made a lot of sense. He also took the time to address members on social media and radio stations like sport FM and SEN at the time..

Like yourself we all loved Tim and what he had done and his enangement with the fans, however here is a reminder why Simon was chosen:

" The Western Force has lured one of the world’s best up and coming coaches, Simon Cron, back to Australia from Japan to lead the team for at least the next two seasons.

Cron is presently Head Coach at Japanese club Toyota Verblitz where he was recruited and mentored by All Blacks coaching legend Steve Hansen, who is the club’s Director of Rugby. Cron replaces Tim Sampson whose contract expires at the end of this season.

Cron has an impressive coaching record that extends through Australia and overseas. Apart from working in Japan, he has been Head Coach of the Australian under-20 team, Assistant Coach at the Waratahs, Head Coach of the Sydney Rays in the NRC and Premiership winning Head Coach of Northern Suburbs in the Shute Shield.

Western Force owner Dr Andrew Forrest said Cron has an outstanding reputation in the game for developing and attracting player talent."

Hahahaha you're complaining about a CEO that wants to win? This is peak Aussie rugby mentality right here

Reds have a partnership with the Panasonic Wild Knights, they were scheduled to play a trial match against them last year in Japan but COVID scrapped that.
