Rebels 2021

“I was getting quite down at times with the Rebels because I couldn’t ever get past Nic Stirzaker and get a proper crack. I felt I was the better player but I just never seemed to get in the coaches’ eyes enough for them to make that call.

“It was so frustrating because I was putting in the work and not getting rewarded, so that made my decision to come here so much easier.

From the man himself back in 2017. Always appreciated the "no bullshit" personality he seemed to have, both in words and actions.

Still only 27 too Jeez.

Rebels sniffing around Powell for next year with White surely taking over the reigns at the Brums

I feel like there's a fair few Brumbies we can all snaffle. Their depth is great. Let Slipper truly enjoy the party capital before retiring.

With Orr, Eloff and Gibbon there is enough depth there. Orr has been superb since getting the starting spot, was close to best on field last week

Yes, but..... so far Gibbon is the only prop signed past this season. It would be awesome if we could get all of them on new contracts, not sure how likely that will be though.

As discussed on other threads, I think it's a COVID cash-up, given the pay cuts and uncertainity for next year's comp. Think Andrew will be back.

He might regret it as far as wallaby aspirations go, with Ramm and Ralston emerging as prospects and Vunivalu set to come over next year, a season away may see him fall right out of the pecking order and struggle to make his way back in.

To be fair he has struggled since the covid resumption

Yeh, I've noticed his post covid game hasn't been at the standard pre-covid, e.g. Highlanders game. Not sure what's gone on; injury, form, or something else. Could explain why he's jetting over to Japan.

Just hope he's OK.

Uelese, Fa'amasuili, Leota and Hosea - all under 23 - that's great backbone :)

On another note - who here would like like to see Pone as an 8 - in the Billy Vunipola model?

Powell to Rebels makes perfect sense as fines more then adequate back up for white and Powell I would see starting 9 as rebels given hearing Louwrens and Lomani moving on - he needs starting berth to push white, Gordon and Tate for wallaby honours. Been impressed with Powell this season, actually Gordon, Tate and Prior all been good value.
