It depends entirely on the constitution, but is generally somewhere between 5% and 25%.

It has been said that the VRU pushed for the meeting and RUPA supported them that gives them 3 votes out of 16 (two for VRU having a state vote and a Super Rugby team vote) and one for RUPA.

My guess would be they required 10% of the votes to call an EGM and the VRU only used their vote, not the Rebels vote and RUPA supported them to give them 2 votes out of 16.

It would seem odd to me if the requirement was 15% of the votes to call an EGM which would require 3 out of the 16 votes.

Does that mean this is being solely driven by North and in effect he has a disconnect with Cox?

I have no idea. I'm just speculating that the ARU Constitution is more likely to require 10% of the votes to call an EGM than 15%.

Ultimately this isn't going to be an EGM because they would have had to wait 21 days to hold it and instead they're doing it sooner by agreement.

I bet Clyne is offering Cox a very sweet deal, with the other side of the coin being he will have to carry all future losses. The only way North can counter this is to get rid of Clyne thus the EGM. There's a conspiracy for you.

Mate, seriously.

For a while now I've been amazed at the way some Force supporters are able to extrapolate hidden meanings and agendas from any tidbit of information.

Just one example, Cox gathers the players and staff together and says he will not sell if the intention is to shut the team down. Some WF supporters see this as a tactic to drive up the price. Cox might be a good bloke, he might be a prick, I wouldn't know. I doubt though that he would be such a complete bastard as to use his own staff in that way.

Now BH81 provides a bit of info that was asked by another poster and you've taken that to mean the Rebels board is fractured. Please!

It's just a question, just as we question Mr Clyne's motives. Mr Cox hasn't said a word publicly or on the record for a long time that I am aware of. Maybe someone closer to the action there can give us an insight in to the potential conflicts of the private ownership V Victorian rugby preferred outcome.
I think Mr Cox is in a very difficult position because of his ownership and potentially he and Mr North have a different view of where they want this to end up.
Why did Mr North and RUPA request the EGM and not include Mr Cox? does this not seem unusual considering the reports of an offer being put on the table to Mr Cox? Why is the Vic Govt suddenly asking to be updated and are meeting with Mr Cox and requesting that Mr Cox give some kind of a guarantee about the future of the Rebs?

Tim North and Andrew Cox could also be dating. We're not sure but it is possible, isn't it?

ARU constitution thanks to Alison on TWF forum, I assume it applies the EGM's?

4.1 Convening of general meetings

(a) The directors may, whenever they think fit, convene a general meeting.
(b) The directors must convene at least one general meeting during each calendar year called the annual general meeting.
(c) The directors must, if requested to do so by at least two Voting Members, convene a general meeting.
(d) A general meeting may be convened only as provided by this rule 4.1 or as provided by the Corporations Act.
(e) A general meeting convened under rule 4.1(c) must be held as soon as reasonably practicable after the request by the Voting Members.

(f) The directors may postpone, cancel or change the venue for a general meeting, but:
(i) a general meeting convened under rule 4.1(c) may not be postponed or cancelled without the consent of the Voting Members who requested the meeting; and
(ii) a general meeting convened under section 250N of the Corporations Act may not be postponed beyond the date by which section 250N requires it to be held and may not be cancelled without the consent of the requisitioning member or members.

"We acknowledge the request by the VRU, supported by RUPA, for a special General Meeting," Clyne said.
"We must provide 21 days notice to voting members to convene a General Meeting, however in order to prevent further delays the Board is willing to meet with the major stakeholders within a shorter time-frame to detail as much information as we are able on the current process regarding Super Rugby.
"We will aim to hold this meeting within the next seven days."

I hope none of the relevant parties fall for this obvious bait and switch manoeuvre. Hold out for a full EGM, VRU.

They also said a decision would be announced within 2 days, when they said they would be axing a team. I wouldn't hold your breath that the meeting will happen any sooner than it absolutely has to.

yes even though the rule says "as soon as reasonably practicable after the request by the Voting Members. " I guess that Mr Clyne would have no intention of speeding something up that is not going to be to his benefit.

A general meeting that isn't the annual general meeting is an EGM.

I have found that post by Alison and it says that the notice period of the meeting is determined by the Corps Act which requires 21 days as stated by Clyne.

Interesting that she seems to have a copy of the ARU constitution.

Lots of us would love to see it!
