I don't mean to spoil the party, but as I mentioned on the 'Where to Super Rugby?' thread..........

Cath Murphy only stated that the Victorian Government want to be consulted on any future decision, and then broadly discussed why it would be bad for the Rebels to be cut.

THat'sweeks of pent-up up frustration, emotion, and fear all out there. Raw, for everyone to see.

The interesting part for me is Tony's involvement (or lack thereof) in Training for the last few weeks. A sign of things to come?
Like all of us, he is getting to the end of his rope. Very much a planned thing, i'd say.

Interesting about the training, changing of the guard?

You would be after not winning a game, especially after coming so close against the Reds.

Reckon he's been told to spruce up his resume?

Surprised not much has been made of the Vic government sports minister not mincing his words. Demanding the aru pull the offer to buy the rebels and that cox and co need to show publicly (and quickly) they are here to support the rebels going forward. Also sounded like the government has a meeting next week with the rebels. They also threatened to pull any government participation with the sport going forward, citing an agreement (another one ) with the aru to jointly build the sport in Victoria.

I must admit I was one of a few that have written to the state sports minister about the whole f up mess.

Interesting. Wonder if it has taken time to get the numbers up for a board spill, or if it's a desperation move.

"We acknowledge the request by the VRU, supported by RUPA, for a special General Meeting," Clyne said.
"We must provide 21 days notice to voting members to convene a General Meeting, however in order to prevent further delays the Board is willing to meet with the major stakeholders within a shorter time-frame to detail as much information as we are able on the current process regarding Super Rugby.
"We will aim to hold this meeting within the next seven days."

I hope none of the relevant parties fall for this obvious bait and switch manoeuvre. Hold out for a full EGM, VRU.

Indeed. After waiting this long they should wait the 21 days for an EGM where more can be done.

How many members does it take to call an EGM?

It depends entirely on the constitution, but is generally somewhere between 5% and 25%.

It has been said that the VRU pushed for the meeting and RUPA supported them that gives them 3 votes out of 16 (two for VRU having a state vote and a Super Rugby team vote) and one for RUPA.

My guess would be they required 10% of the votes to call an EGM and the VRU only used their vote, not the Rebels vote and RUPA supported them to give them 2 votes out of 16.

It would seem odd to me if the requirement was 15% of the votes to call an EGM which would require 3 out of the 16 votes.
