The Hurricanes were exceptional in their execution and skill level. They are obviously full of confidence and are led by a guy named Beauden Barret, who i hear can sorta play a bit. The Rebels showed a couple of glimpses of promise, some nice 1st 2nd 3rd phase starter plays that made inroads. Amanaki Mafi was a very good ball carrier, Jordy Reed got better as the game went on. Lomax scrummed well for a 1st start.
The defense, lets be honest, wasn't great. 40 missed tackles is very high and needs attention. The mental application is the first step to fixing it. A coordinated defensive line was missing too with the line always jagged and disjointed leaving the space in behind for the Canes to do what they wanted. Timanis injury a concern.
But as above, the Canes were exceptional and have started a level above this year.

What are your realistic options for replacement coaches?

Maybe it is time to get an up and coming coach who has never had a skills/strategy/whatever role with the Wallabies - that doesn't seem to work too well. Don't get anyone turfed from another Super Rugby side either - there has to be some coaches who have shown promise at Premier level who can make the step up as the Rebels results so far suggest that something different is needed.

At least one positive is that the Rebels can't lose as badly next week since they have the bye, but the Chiefs will be looking keenly at their match the week after.

Yes unfortunately recruitment was limited to the car park....so they have now recruited the car park attendant as Rebels next coach. Apparently he has not seen a Rebels super rugby game. What a relief as he may otherwise have not taken the job. He has also promised to make sure all Rebels supporters who attend home games will ensure their car is parked to the highest standard.

At least if he is good at parking cars, he may be able to employ the soccer tactic of parking the bus and improve our defensive efforts.

so is laurie talking about himself or the players ? i'd be very happy for the lord to come to melbourne.
Sounds despondent, so I assume he means himself. Also comes across as highly principled so doubt he'd attack players like that.
