Box Hill have Leafa and Sefa allocated to them, in addition to Samo and Meehan. Neither of them played the required 4 games to be eligible for finals, and Samo buggered off to Queensland when the Rebels season was over.

i thought Mitch was "unfit" after surgery, so couldn't play NRC. anyway so long as they swap jerseys again after the RWC i don't mind.

No, he just had a knee clean up, but he had a clause put in his last contract that if he wasnt selected for Wallaby honours this year, he was free to spend the NRC period (returning for pre-season) overseas.

Sorry, I couldnt say anything before the announcement.

sorry rebels fans but I think Inman is on the wrong side of a long list of promising ICs. Particularly with the rise of Kerevi, the experience of Giteau and the consistent solid form of Lilo. I'd say he's on the same page as Godwin. Great to see we have such depth in the position.

Can't see what you need to apologize Daz :) Certain things can't be share until the appropriate time. Goes for a lot of things shared on GAGR.

The disappointing thing for me, and for him too, was that he did everything Cheiks and Bernie asked of him before the S15 season started, and they both acknowleged that.

Bernie was pushing pretty hard for Mitch to at least make the initial training squad and give him a chance to push for selection, but ultimately Cheiks made the call otherwise.

That isn't just me being in Mitch's corner, it's for all players. The reason I get pissed off with this kind of stuff is that if you tick the boxes set before you by the National coaches before the season, and you meet or exceed those KPI's, you should at least get some reward, even if it is just 2 weeks in a Wallaby training camp.

And while it matters little to many on here, I can tell you that he is burning to wear Gold. He wants to represent his country above everything else. Why the hell else do you think he is still toiling away here, rather than seeking more money elsewhere?

Isn't that the kind of person we want in a Gold jersey, rather than some of the self-entitled dickwads who piss on it?

If Inman makes the Wallabies we are screwed. 1 dimensional players don't work well in international rugby.

i agree completely Daz. i expect that deep down, although all those who represent Australia are proud of the fact, in the professional era in the end, its is just another day at the office.
perhaps i'm wrong, but having played in the day when you went from club rugby one saturday, to test football the next, the players i knew who represented australia would have gladly given their "first born", or whatever to continue to do so.
i think Mitch might be unlucky, and given a different coach, could have had the opportunity, but the Cheika two playmaker model doesn't allow for the hard running, crash ball, great defender type, which is why Kerevi is unlikely to play there as well.
i hope he stays on at the Rebels for many more years but if you want income while you can earn it i'd be off to France next contract time.

Screwed? Really? Yes, because Mitch being at 12 in a Gold jersey is going to be the reason we fail to retain the Bledisloe. Oh, wait.

How's our trophy cupboard looking right now, do you think?

to be fair, Inman has more going than just the crash ball. true, he isn't a great provider but has improved that area of his game a lot in the last two years

Far too harsh and not correct.

Inman would not be as big as an attacking threat as other options. I have no doubt he'd be capable as a Wallaby. Unfortunately for Mitch capable isn't good enough to get you selected sometimes.

Absolute nonsense. Lomu is the ultimate case study in that.

It's a tough one daz. Really shit situation for him, especially if he's been lead-on to an extent by the Wallaby coaching staff. There have been plenty worse Wallabies than him. He just seems to have always been caught in the middle. Hopefully he's still enjoying his rugby, would be a shame if he ended up embittered.

Unfortunately, the one stat Mitch is lacking in his CV is tries scored. Plenty of set-ups, but a 12 needs to score tries. And he knows it.

I think the biggest thing that counts against him Daz is that he's really not a viable 13 or wing option. He'd have to be the out and out best 12 option to be picked in the squad when he doesn't offer a lot of versatility.

I'm somewhat bemused that he has never been tried there. But at the same time I believe that he would not be dominant, based on how we've seen players like Pat McCabe and Anthony Fainga'a be very good at Super Rugby level but struggle to have an impact at test level. I think if he had been established prior to this two (who most would consider have similar limitation) he would have been seen as a better option in the similar mould (better option as he offers the size they did not).

Melbournites, where's a good spot to watch the Bledisloe tonight?
I've heard the sports bar at crown casino should have it playing, is that a safe bet?

Botanical Hotel on Domain Road and the Imperial in the CBD are also good options. That way you avoid the unwashed masses like oztimmay at turf bar too!

Really?
I'd already prearranged to meet some friends there, what's so bad about it?

I'm staying in the CBD, so maybe turf bar then?
