Nah they're off to the reds.

I hope it's worth the hype of announcing on TV, that means current wallabies or big name internationals to me. Anything less will be a bit of a let down.

Isn't QC (Quade Cooper) off contract with the reds this year? Still contracted with the ARU until 2015 but the reds one was until 2014 from memory. Let the hype speculation begin.

Other way round, contracted to the reds until 2015 but still sorting out the ARU end of it.

The biggest name Australians not locked down that the rebels might be interested in? Maybe they are trying for Foley again or it could be the Fainga'as. Otherwise you'd think it would have to be someone from OS or league to be a big enough announcement.

Ah well, a man can dream. Would prefer not the twins but am struggling to think of anyone else high profile in Aus off contract.

As a side note this article about Luke Jones learning to call lineouts basically confirms what people are saying (TWAS mentioned it from memory) that Jones is being seen as a Simmons backup in the wallabies camp.

Pretty Sure I called it last week

You heard that rumor about us signing QC (Quade Cooper) so the Reds can play JOC (James O'Connor) at 10 too? ;)

I don't know who they are but was told by someone at the Reds, and Wayne Smith also mentioned it last week, that 2 more signings were due to be announced this week.

I think that much like the Reds, I wouldn't mind Saia, don't think we need Ant, but understand they come as a package.

Nothing against the boys, they've been fantastic servants of Queensland rugby, but they're just not what we need right now.

Agreed, strongly. What we CERTAINLY need is a lock and a hooker.

What do we maybe need? Probably another 'big centre' (so we can play McGann-ball) and a 10 (though that depends on if Harris is a 10, I'm hearing rumours he is).

Saia would tick one of those I guess, still there's a fair few blokes I'd rather.

Looking at the squad you're in need of a hooker and you could do worse than ant to fill out your backline stocks.
Tired veterans who will be a stopgap at best. Without a draft, and with a Melbourne production line probably about five years away, the best thing the Rebels can do is stockpile as much young talent as possible and play them until they get good like the Suns in the footy. There's a core of serious talent at key positions now. PAE, Smith, Jones, McMahon and Placid are all young and mega talented. On a slightly lower level, IMO, you've got Colby, Neville, Stirzaker, English, Crawford and Kingston. Higgers isn't exactly a young talent, but he's got more than a few good years left. Inman, Harris and Hegarty are fine, if limited. I have no idea who'll be the hooker next year. I'd rather go to the Australian Schoolboys and U20s for a hooker and 12, in order to build towards a serious title push in a couple of years. Maybe that's just me though.

Honestly, what we need is Dave Rennie and Wayne Smith. We had those blokes and I'd back us in to play finals next year.

But yes. A huge fucker of a lock would be nice. And maybe BdP. Oh and Lilo at 10.

A point for this is, it's a joint signing deemed worth of precious rugby club air time. And that show's quality, quality, quality.

A point against this is, the Reds are suffering an exodus and will surely have cap space, why let two decent, honest starting standard players go elsewhere?

Geez you Rebels supporters are hard to please.

You jizz yourselves when Scott 'Where else would he actually go anyway" Fugistalla re-signs but the prospect of signing 2 Wallabies, one of which fills a massive hole in your roster whilst the other one only 2 years ago was last in our backline on talent but first on his importance to it and our success, and who offer a lot off the field is a massive let down.

Seriously. Did you ever hear of BOD and POC signing with Connacht?

How are we Connacht? I'm sick of this being floated.

Last time I checked we have the same salary cap as everyone else and get more than 5000 people to games. We're also based in Australia's most culturally diverse city.

If we were based out of Tassie and had half the salary cap we'd be Connacht.
