Doussain is a good player; so it is no disgrace to be ranked behind him. Burgess is not playing as well as he did last year but neither is the team as a whole.
French scrumhalves in the Top14 play the position like they are flyhalves playing the position, and are frequently the quarterbacks of the backline rather than the number 10, as in other countries.
No wonder so many of them can play flyhalf when there is a need, and no wonder either why there are so few elite specialist flyhalves in the whole country.
No. 9s like Burgess, and Kelleher before him at Toulouse, are uncommon in the Top14 because they are game breakers rather than the playmakers French teams are used to at scrumhalf.
In that sense you are right that Burgess isn't made for French rugby, but Toulouse has played 22 games this season and Burgess has just missed one match and started in 11 of them, so he isn't all that bad.

Because Doussain is not that good too (he's only 21 though). Contrary to Kelleher, Burgess isn't a leader, especially for the forwards, and Burgess needs to play in a pre-established game, as many australian players he has difficulties to adapt his game in no pre-established situations, and at Toulouse we play this kind of game where players must adapt their game during most of the match.
You are right for the rest of your post, Burgess was good in the first months when he arrived and the whole Toulouse team is playing bad and boring rugby at the moment.

out of curiosity, what "many australian players'" are you referring to when you say they have difficulties adapting their game in a no pre-established situation?
And secondly, what does "no pre-established situations" refer to?

Sorry if my english isn't very good.
I mean in Australia the game is pre-established for the first 4 or 5 phases (maybe more). At Toulouse after 2 or 3 phases players don't know what they must do so they must adapt. This way of playing rugby at Toulouse was theorised in the 80s by Robert Bru and coach Pierre Villepreux, they called it "intelligence situationnelle" in french, in english we could translate it by "to be able to think by yourself and take the good decision (individually and together) given the situation on the pitch, if you have the ball or not." Two points are important here : the general movement around the ball holder and the capacity not to fall down on the pitch to play standing up by using pass just after contact (i'm not sure this is the good term, i mean when a player is tackled he must try to pass the ball to a partner before falling down on the pitch in order to avoid a ruck).
I don't say there is better method but that's different and some players need time to adapt.

The family day today was good fun and well attended. It was great to just have a chat to the lads and the staff with no real pressure.
Highlight for me was having a chat to young Nic Stirzaker. I was following the Hobart trial on twitter, where Nic was subbed with 15 to go. Nic said he actually got a decent head bump and had to be replaced. He was asking to go back on but when the medic asked him to do the standard concussion test (stand up with one foot in front of the other, then close his eyes), he pretty much hit the deck.
Nic called it "doing a Berrick Barnes", so I guess if nothing else, Berrick has raised the head knock profile.
Also compared to other club days I have been to (Force and Reds) the Rebels are streets ahead with community/family engagement. Very professional and very friendly.
Having said that, I suppose it is easier to deal with a few hundred people than the (I presume) thousands that would turn out for a Tahs/Reds family day.
Anyway, very impressed. Oh, and my prediction stands; Mitch Inman will be a Wallaby 13 in 2013.

Is there more than one Doussain who plays for Toulouse?
PS - I am just joking jauzy19. My point is that a fellow who played in the RWC final can't be too bad 15 months later.
