i hope there a few if any changes to the line up, notwithstanding the talent available. JOC (James O'Connor) for hegarty only. sidey had a very good game especially the defence, made a huge number of telling tackles. we are scoring tries and only now is the D beginning to work, so lets not meddle too much huh, please coach.

oh, and "release the ranga" earlier

Agree, I think Rory's last two games have been comfortably his best for the club and he deserves to keep his spot

It's all well and good to say that Sidey is finally starting to play to an acceptable level, but there is a monumental difference between him and JOC (James O'Connor). I'd say that Hill will play JOC (James O'Connor) at 10, but this would be a great chance to give him a run at 12.

I would like to see something like this:

9 Phipps/Stirz
10 Hegarty
11 Vuna
12 JOC (James O'Connor)
13 Inman
14 English
15 Woodward

20 Stirz/Phipps
21 Sidey/Sitaiti (sp??)
22 Beale

i'd go
phipps
Hegarty
Mitchell
JOC (James O'Connor)
Inman
English
Woodward

Stirz
Sidey
Vuna

i dont think beale warrants immediate selection to be honest.
i'd move JOC (James O'Connor) to 10 after half and bring on Vuna and Sidey as well.

Now that I look for it, when I watch the replay it is really telling the effect that Phipps has on the forwards. He's a mouthy sort and he really does a good job organising the forwards at the breakdown. While I can see why people like Stirzacker, he really has to add that to his game if he wants to step up to the next level. It always is the effort of the forwards which decides the outcome of most games.

THANKYOU!

The whole "the halfback's job is only to pass from the base" theory is ridiculous. Obviously it's important, but we're getting Burgeo next year so us Rebels fans need to enjoy other parts of a 9s game, lest we get VERY frustrated.

Nick S will build in that role as his experience and confidence grows.

And from what i've seen I think Burgess and Phipps offer pretty similar approaches, both the positives with managing the forwards, short running game and leadership, and the negatives with the loopy passing.

Can Burgess tackle better than Phipps?

Stirzaker is a chatty lad as well. It's a bit harder to tell in game, but at training he is shouting instructions all over the park. He is less, umm, enthusiastic and demonstrative than Phipps perhaps, but I agree with Chris that Stirzaker will only get better as his confidence grows.

I don't think anyone's said that? It's about weighing up the pros and cons. I'd say most of us recognise that Phipps has an edge in defence and when it comes to organising the forwards. However Stirzaker's strengths - his pass and decision making are more influential than Phipps' strengths. He very rarely makes mistakes either, while you're pretty much guaranteed a couple of howlers from Phipps per game.

Kurtley Beale has completed the first part of his rehabilitation plan and will return to Rugby.

The downside for Rebels fans is that will only be for Randwick in the Shute Shield for the foreseeable future as he will be closer to his support network in Sydney.

It would seem this is best for Kurtley and his long-term health. Glad to hear he has successfully completed stage one and best of luck for the rest of his treatment.

Interesting to see Rebels have picked up Toby Smith from the Chiefs, apparently was born in Townsville, so hoping to make Wallabies??? Personally would be hugely surprised if he did,but.... and funny thing is he can't get game time with Chiefs because Manu who was turned down by Rebeld (because of injury worries) is keepnig him on bench!!

Ultimately sounds like an all around win for both teams. Chiefs got a player who wants to play for them who is playing the house down. Rebels end up with a player who wants to play for them (and who doesn't eat up international positions).
