The Tahs scrum seemed to transform last week when Kepu came on. I sorta understand Cheika's thinking here - Ryan offers a bit more around the park and given that its not test match rugby you can generally get away with a dogey scrum. at the same time, I would have thought the tahs would be much better overall if they were able to win the scrum battle early in the game and put pressure on in the set piece. Not so sure starting ryan makes them a better side.

Yeah I guess it comes back to the argument around numbers - how many scrums will there be? Is it going to be as important as ruck and lineout mobility, as well as ball running capabilities

Reckon this game will be a good yardstick for how the Rebels will fare next season.

Maybe - but you have a fair few players out (injured) which will make it hard to gauge, and heading in to the back-end of a patchy season doesn't usually yield much of a picture except who can perform consistently.

Injuries play a part, sure.

But the Rebels had a bit of a mixed start to the season and have since beaten the Force and Brumbies in Melbourne as well as the Reds in Brissie. A win over the Waratahs would big up their confidence.

There are some top players for the Rebs, particularly in the pack. The Waratahs are a great team and exactly how good the Rebels are will be on show when they go head to head. Exciting stuff!

He's holding on to the shield like it's made of chocolate.

Weeks' ankle must be a touch worse than expected then, oh well, don't lose a lot with PAE starting but it will be interesting to see how big max goes at tight head, looks like he's the THP reserve?

Please rugby jesus, don't let Meehan get injured...

Waratahs launch a twitter fight comeback!

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!

Strong Rebels side. There's some serious zap about Meehan's play, hopefully he aims up and gives it to Phipps all night.

Irrespective of the team you're cheering for, I think watching debutants (either as starters or for their virgin appearance) is one of the real joys of watch a sport like rugby.

Cheers and congratulations to Ben for his run-on debut, and to Jack for potentially his first taste of elite rugby.

Should be a belter of a match.

I like Izzy's face after the hit.

Fair play to Faf there, gutsy - would be over 50kgs difference in that collision I'd say.

I've watched every Rebels game thus far. And after a few weeks out, Toby Smith has been sensational. Apart from an ordinary scummaging performance against the Brumbies, I think he has really got the Rebels pigs going forward.

Australian Rugby has got some decent loose-heads. Robinson, Cowan, Slipper (when performing), Smith. However, the biggest issue is obviously the TH. Its a position that hasn't been entirely conquered since McKenzie retired (up for debate). I think the foundations are laid for a competitive front-row. Kepu is my pick at TH. I'm looking forward to the Smith v Kepu battle.

Here's hoping for a solid, well contested game.
