Announced today that Kurtley Beale is "poised" to sign for a further 2 years with the Tahs.

Has got me thinking - kudos to the Tahs for getting their house in order early for next year and beyond.

If Beale does sign this week, Tahs now have re-signed or signed for 2012 (and beyond):

Palu
Mumm
Barnes
AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
Horne
Mitchell
TPN
Turner
Robinson
Dennis

Apologies if I have the above wrong and/or missed some.

Why is it that the other teams seem to lag behind in recruitment?

As a Reds supporter 2011 is the first year for many that we did ok but even then it seemed to come late. Now for the Reds all the talk is about Cooper looking at his "options" rather than who we have locked up for 2012.

Other marquee names being talked about elsewhere are O'Connor (targeted by Brums) Ioane (Melb or OS) and Cipriani (going home). But no good signings to report.

Am I missing some signings and/or not taking other long term signings into account or are the Tahs just better at it than others??

Read that Daley may be going to England to study - bit of a beat up to get a renewed contract with the Ballymore Boys and maybe a top-up from the cash strapped ARU.

Think he is signed to the end of 2011.

Maybe the Tahs are the only ones comfortable with dealing with stuff mid season.

Interesting that Waugh and Fuze havent made a move yet.
IMO, if the Tahs win (touch wood) they will retire, if not they will stay on for another year.

It'll be interesting to see what further signings are made at the Tahs with this new 'salary cap' coming into place...

With the amount of Wallabies already re-signed one would assume they wouldn't be able to fit in too many big names...

Perhaps that is why the Waratahs are re-signing players in the middle of the season. If they get in before the salary cap is put in place, they will already have contracts locked in, thus adding to the issues of the cap. Legally the Waratahs would not be able to renege on the agreed contracts, and it would be a restriction of trade to make players move elsewhere.

waratahs are yet to sign a coach as well.
the salary cap wont affect players already at teams im led to believe so signing them now could be the reason, thought they would be pusing a few for 3 or 4 year contracts though.

Bob Dwyer seems to be hanging out at NSWRU (coaching sydney) and a lot of players are signing on, maybe he has been mooted as coach?

Man, how long are these guys going to be playing? Not retiring until the Tahs win the comp.....

While the NSW Waratahs (Wycliff Palu, Dean Mumm, Lachie Turner, Rob Horne, Tatafu Polota-Nau, Drew Mitchell and Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Brumbies (Ben Alexander and Stephen Moore) have trumpeted some big 2012 moves, the Reds are yet to go public with a single re-signing.

Queensland Rugby Union chief executive Jim Carmichael yesterday said that retaining Morahan was part of a raft of re-signings that the Reds were confident of nailing.

"There is bemusing talk out there that because the Reds haven't announced re-signings like some other teams, we are not chasing," Carmichael said.

"We are well and truly on top of our retention of players."

It's consistent with the tack of Reds coach Ewen McKenzie last year when he saw no need to rush to the microphone with every contract move. In the end, only prop Laurie Weeks slipped away of the more than 20 off-contract players he wanted to keep.

"Luke is absolutely in Ewen's plans. I've heard talk of the Brumbies being interested but we're pretty confident of getting it settled," Carmichael said.

Morahan, 20, faces one of his toughest exams on Sunday morning when the Reds try to crack the defence of the unbeaten Stormers at their Newlands fortress in Cape Town.

Flyhalf Quade Cooper was applauded for his fine pop ball against the Lions last weekend but it was Morahan's timing and speed that made the try look so easy.

Reds skipper James Horwill and prop Ben Daley are other blue-chip players the Reds are expected to announce as re-signings in the near future.

"We see Ben as a quality character at the Reds for the long haul. He is an emerging leader," Carmichael said.

In the immortal words of Pauline Hanson..."Please explain"

I'll be playing with NTA's club the Renegades this year. Won't be news to most but some posters here know NTA.

Well I did literally sign... although it wasn't for 2012.

Announcing signings, and re-signings is about the only thing the Tahs communicate well.

They appear to be a very happy and contented bunch, maybe a bit too comfortable

i know for a fact that there are at least a 2 Reds players who have re-signed for 2012 both of whom havent been announced, so it begs to wonder how many others have re-signed as well.
