just to point out that not a single bshs back has made it
i have lost all faith in any representative team selectors
I note that there is always going to be disagreement and "controversy" on selections for any team you would care to name. Now that we are getting down to the pointy end of selections this will start bubbling to the surface. We now have 62 people up for 46 positions in the Red and White teams. Some odd non selections already. Jack Martin for one, who I believed would have been up for it. But I look at the list of those in the third cut of trials and it raises questions for me.
Of those left, 45 players come from the GPS competition (if you incl Downlands playing the bye). No doubt the GPS competition is tougher and I expected a strong skew but does it really have that much depth of talent? While previous QLD schoolboy sides have been dominated by GPS, I doubt that the percentages have ever been that high. I stand to be corrected.
Eddies have five players left in the running, the balance of the AIC competition only has five players left. A pointer for the AIC competition next year perhaps (for another thread)
I see that Nudgee have 11 players still in the running. Six of these players are from the current u15 Nudgee team (undefeated for three years), four of these were added to the list after the first trial. These u15 players made up the backbone of the u15 Met North team that were well beaten in the State Champs finals by the Met West team, yet I do not believe any players from the u15 Met West team are in the current group or were even late inclusions.
Based only on the performance across both the 1st XV and 16A GPS competitions, Churchie seems to be under represented (five players left). You could almost say the same of TSS (five players) and BSHS (three players).
It will be interesting to see how the final cut falls.
