Queensland Reds 2026

Brumby Runner

Jason Little (69)
I would like to take one of my kids to the rugby. 6:30 and 7:30pm don't work considering their asleep by 8pm.

There's plenty fo afternoon games the Reds are playing in other locations so it's a tad disappointing we can't do something similar here.
I agree that there could be a few more afternoon games in Aus, but the reason we all play afternoon games in NZ is to allow those games to be broadcast at NZ peak time. Similar for games in Fiji. Not sure that STAN would be too happy with a lot of afternoon games in Aus.

It's something a lot of fans would like. Every other team seems to get one or two arvo games.
Daylight savings/tail end of summer weather is an issue there, there's a decent chunk of the season where it's just not feasible to play afternoon games in Queensland.

Beyond that it's pretty variable as to whether or not it's good for the fans - once club season has started it's a problem, at least on Saturdays, and Sundays are much rarer now with no more than 5 games a weekend.

I think the Reds and Brumbies should be pencilling in 2 wins v the Tahs & Force. Tahs and Force will split it H/A but the good (potential top 4) sides should put those away. Reds v Brums will go the home side.

Basically a repeat of last year besides the Tahs knocking off the Brums at home.

Is there a list of the Reds senior academy signings.
first page.. i've updated most of them as they're announced including academy players

Current acadmey list is as below:
Treyvon Pritchard - 2027 (Wing/Centre/Fly-Half)
Nick Conway - 2027 (Wing)
Taione Taka - 2027 (Centre)
Finn McKay - 2027 (Fly-Half)
Will Ross - 2027 (Lock)
Bennett Armistead 2028 (Lock)
Kingsly Uys - 2027 (Prop)
Levi Slater 2027(Prop)

Out of this; Conway and McKay 'could' see time in Super Rugby next year off the bench, the rest of them are still at school this year

Thanks mate.

Quite a bit of talent locked up across the country now. Tahs have their senior academy online and the Force have the list from last year. Brums don't but you can assume a good chunk of the 19s form it with most listed players featuring for ACT Clubs and not just parachuting in right before the comp.

wow, slightly unexpected news but Les Kiss has said Liam Wright is near return from injury and could take part in Super Rugby Aus... I was all but expecting him to announce his retirement:

RWC might be a carrot worth giving a bit incentive... Super Rugby Aus a blessing for Liam if he can get out there.

You'd be nervous as anything if he hadn't played a game and then you get straight into Super Rugby.

"Maybe in this next eight weeks he's available, we don't know yet, we just have to make sure the next month goes well, each week goes well and then he may be available."
Maybe available in the next 8 weeks....and no contract signed for next year.

Might be a retirement on the cards still.

No better chance to test it though before it becomes a ball ache for the Reds in Super Rugby.

Mentally the bloke must have gone through the ringer. Shoulders suck to rehab and he's done it multiple times. Good egg for the Reds to have around though in these months when all the other big name players are with the Wallabies

Yeah the Tahs have the best access. Wish the others would match what they do.
