Queensland Reds 2026

not sure that’s the case with Tom Robinson. But he’s clearly a natural leader.
But this is clearly just a trial. Not a ‘first class match’. So very experimental
Lol, you’re very right - brain fart had me thinking it was ex-Blues flanker Tom Robinson.

I suspect JTA (Jeffery Toomaga-Allen) might have some pull when he gets on

He has been hit in the helmet a number of times. I remember him getting concussed from a heading a soccer ball in a warmup. Some of the concussions upon review, weren't actually concussions. They were symptoms of anxiety. I'm not saying he shouldn't have retired, mainly because everyone knew he couldn't play the short ball, but he was definitely in his own head with it.
This is a thing. Supposedly more than 4 of the pommy team that won the WC back in the day got early-onset dementia from it.

Admittedly the synthetic soccer balls used these days are lighter ... but the old leather balls, if waterlogged and arriving at speed, were like heading a brick.

I think they've outlawed heading the ball now in England for junior soccer.

I was surprised when my 8 year old grand son said he was allowed to head the ball. He laughed when I said it could cause brain damage.

It's been confirmed that RA tried to get Carter to go to the 'Tahs first for 2026, but Carter held fast and insisted only on Queensland again. Good boy. Really should remove any accusations of disloyalty from Carter.
All his problems started when he left home. Not personally but professionally

Problems? He's not played a pro game for QLD yet and was selected for the Wallabies from Melbourne.

he was always part of the system in QLD. The Reds were keeping a close eye and working with him from his teenage years. It was a really managed approach. They Reds were fully aware of some of his areas that needed development. The Rebels jumped in a promised him a start sand threw money (we know they didn't have). He showed his class, but his frailties were there to see as well. Eddie did pick him for the Wallabies, yep, but Eddie loves the scatter gun approach to selections - pick heaps of newbies and claim the glory of their success when it inevitably happens (and ignore the bad selections).

Carter would have played Super Rugby for the Reds the same year he debuted for the Rebels, but in a more managed way.

That's speculative though that he has problems and they wouldn't have occurred had he stayed. We could all then be saying here's a guy who hasn't played enough etc. He wasn't thrown out there at 18 by the Rebels to figure it out but a pretty normal age

To clarify, Pucovski’s concussion was due to heading a volleyball in a warmup.
