Fuck me - so they believe it met the red card threshold? Seems harsh from what I recall of the body heightsSef Fa'agase suspended for four weeks.

Fair enough - I'd have to go watch it again. No sudden drop in height from the ball carrier, contact was head to head with force.
Definitely red card threshold.
Sef Fa'agase suspended for four weeks.
Yep, so annoying!Fair enough - I'd have to go watch it again.
Without getting too much into it, and noting it's not apples to apples, this decision and the contrast to the Lynagh late hit pose some questions about the dangerous tackle framework.
Fa'agase went off for an HIA!Yep, so annoying!
was called by the TMO to the ref as "just a head clash" in the game.
No-one was hurt & they played on.
Lynagh gets monstered in a deliberate late hit & they don't even take a look
It was late enough and with a high enough level of force to warrant a yellow imo - replays showed Finau hadn't committed until after the ball was passed. The wrap was borderline but agree that he did just enough. Is the hit on Tom Lynagh more than a penalty? It is late but it isn't high. I don't think it is egregiously late that it would be considered for a yellow card. I think there's enough of a wrap to suggest that the tackler has used arms in the tackle.
Yeah watching it again it's probably a fair call. Sef's positioning was poor and ran the risk of shoulder-to-head even if the ballcarrier hadn't changed his lineTackle is at 35:05 for those playing at home. I think he was a little bit unlucky as the ball carrier stepped away from Nongorr and into Fa'agasse, but it was probably not just late enough to be a "sudden" change in direction
Watching that section of play trying to find when the red card tackle was - it was pretty evident just how often the Reds were having to make their front-on tackles on the ball carrier from "above", because the carrier was getting down so low. Maybe it's utilised more, but nah, that technique has been around forever - you can only get so low, eventually you have to find another way.Watching that section of play trying to find when the red card tackle was - it was pretty evident just how often the Reds were having to make their front-on tackles on the ball carrier from "above", because the carrier was getting down so low. I wonder if that's trained now, to avoid the front-on head-to-head risk?
Not sure "livewire" is how I'd describe Petaia but I hope he stays with the Reds. Coming into his prime years now and can be the type of player that makes life a lot easier for others around him as well.Reds/Les Kiss pretty bullish about keeping Petaia:
