Quade telling it how it is

I believe Peterson actually won his hearing. He was accused of something he managed to prove false. Not sure Quade is in the same position.

Quade was foolish, but I'm struggling to reconcile criticising the ARU with a one year ban. Especially when they were in dire need of criticism (be it slightly more eloquently and well directed criticism).

As an employee of the ARU I would say it comes down to what is in his contract about conduct. However, him being at the end of his contract means its not just about that but how they see him fitting into the organisation going forward.

Quade needs a new manager and getting his rugby Career back on Track. I feel he would be in a better place without Nasser and his cock head friend Mundine after his latest rant. "ANTHONY Mundine has labelled Australia one the most racist countries in the world and has called for the flag and national anthem to be changed."

I feel he would be in a better place if he was managed well. Hang around dickheads you soon become one.

Guys can we keep it vaguely rugby related please. Not to say that this isn't wholly relevant, I just deleted a post from Schad that went waaay off topic.

If you want to discuss Mundine and his views then maybe a thread in the politics/everything board may be more appropriate.

I would love to see this happen.

Unfortunately, it would teach him (and other potential troublemakers) a lesson and might build a more team-focused mentality. - which would be a bad thing for the ABs.

So, on second thoughts, let him "express himself" all he wants.

I'll take your Quade hating Kiwi opinion on board and then completely disregard.

The CEO has changed at the ARU since Quade's action - coincidence?

Many are saying that the coach can't change as well because of this; but if the coach were going to be changed, then I reckon JO'N would've gone, as he has. Watch this space, I reckon.

So a trouble maker? Maybe. But maybe that's exactly what had to happen for the benefit of the team.

I agree Gagger. Something is wrong with Oz rugby and when someone had the temerity to say it out loud he just about got tarred and feathered for speaking up.
As for the supporters of other countries on this board telling us what we should do with our players..... my respect for this forum won't let me tell you what I really think of them.

I'm sorry, *whose* players? Perhaps you're overlooking that the majority of them are from other countries, or merely obtuse.

Sorry Gaggs, are you implying that Quade taking to twitter caused the ARU to change CEO?

Maybe Quade could tweet to end the war in Iraq next? ;)

I think Quade put the problems that were being conveniently brushed over (for how many months now?) into a very public spotlight that no-one could hide from. He spoke up and then 2 weeks later there was change.

So do I think he had a hand in it? YES. Did he singlehandedly make it happen - definitely NO.

As for his evil tweeting - I can't believe you've fallen for this line WaJu - being a twitter personality yourself. It was the two newspaper interviews and then the TV spot that he did that made this mess. His tweets were just the punctuation marks and have been scapegoated by traditional media relics

Gaggs - are u able to roll out your theory in greater detail? From the ARU perspective on what's been reported I'm not sure I understand how JON becomes the scape goat for it?

I'm aware it's more than twitter, the major issue is that Quade was put on a media ban before his rugby club appearance but ignored it.

By your reasoning does it mean that Drew & Kepu who came out pro wallabies & anti cooper during recent interviews will be I trouble under a new regime?

I think to much is being read into a talented but frustrated footballer not thinking before acting.

I think you're over-reading what I've said.

I'm not saying Quade is necessarily part of some putsch

I am saying that if you look at the timing of the events it looks more likely that Quade's action helped spur action than not.

My take is that the Quade situation exacerbated existing tensions between O'Neil's ARU and Echo responsibility. It's not that O'Neill stepped down because of Quade, but that he already had a serious issue between his two responsibilities. Whether or not he was "missing hours" from the ARU because of Echo is sort of beside the point -- perception of a problem can actually be more intractable than a real problem. What happened with Quade and the slow response from the ARU probably put a lot of internal pressure on O'Neill and he may simply have decided that Echo was a more positive use of his time.
