Darren Lockyer is retiring so the Broncos will have a shed load of money
What are the chances of Quade heading across after the RWC? No change is scenery, stays near his girlfriend .............
Seems a concern to me
Let him go. He can be replaced. Both JOC (James O'Connor) and Barnsey are playing as well and we will see how Kurtley does this week. Remeber he has Mundine's manager now and I would hate for him to carry on with the drama that other clients have - SBW and Inglis. make him an offer and if its not good enough let him go nice and clean
Seems a concern to me
Realistically, how much per year, could they offer?
Perception of league pay seems wildly over-estimated to me (usually done by talking about a "deal" that totals over 3 years).
Eels couldn't even match the $600k QC (Quade Cooper) was already on at the bottom of the ARU payscale last year
I've never understood the constant trashing of Mundine and Co. It seems to me like all they've ever done is excel at a a number of challenges while standing up for themselves at the negotiating table. Keep in mind the Mundine to boxing switch and the SBW to Rugby/Boxing switch weren't, despite them getting their proper value, money-based. They had openly-discussed goals that they backed themselves to meet. Why should they do any different for the sake of a bunch of board members in suits? It's their lives. If Quade truly wants to go to League then let him, his life. Australian rugby will be undeniably poorer for losing him and no one can deny he's doing his absolute best while he's here.
I think it would be a fucking catastrophe if Quade went to league - and I noticed no Reds supporters have posted in here yet. Quade Cooper, the most important player at the QLD Reds and arguably for the Wallabies - one team totally goes down the drain and all game plans out the window and another loses a player who should be playing for another 8 years at least.
The Reds have built everything they do around Quade Cooper, and if he goes, so do the good times. Ditto Wallabies IMO. I hope he stays, I really do.
Its centred around Mundine, and at least from my experience it seems to be because he would often come out and say he was the greatest thing since sliced bread but never really beat any of the top boxers. It's part of the Australian psyche - don't talk yourself up, its not for you to tell people you're the best - if you show them they will say it for you.
I don't respect the way SBW walked out on his team mid season. But I respect the way he realised that if he wanted to play all blacks he had to train hard and become a world class player, which he did, and now he will reap the benefits he deserves.
Cooper is obviously a very talented attacking flyhalf but he's not the next Stephen Larkham...
The best flyhalves can generally tackle...
