This was the Queensland teams from last year I would expect majority of boys who are to play qld this year will have featured in either of the red or white squads. However I know there is returning Australian schoolboys Junior and Wilkins. Not sure who the returning open QLD players are though? And is Rory Humphries (qld 1 #13 last year) going to play rep rugby this year?

Have you got the list of the 2011 Queensland team? Be interesting to see if some of the older boys who are repeating this year made it for Queensland when they were eligible then.

QRU should post something in the next couple of days. It's a shame the Qld Schools Rugby Union website isn't used any more as it provided a great deal of information in the past.

Don't hold your breath. QRRA referee match appointments might be your best bet http://www.qrrabrisbane.rugbynet.com.au/default.asp?id=120980. An insider has an interim copy of the draw based on that but not up on the website yet..I will post when I can get a copy off him. And maybe when the QRU post the draw / times they can post a list of all the teams as well!

Yes, the lack of info this year is very poor of the organising officials. In the past I was under the impression that dates and times of games and teams were published and publicised well in advance. Two days out and nothing. They only thing that I am certain of is that one of the games will be a curtain raiser for the Classic Wallabies game on Friday night. Why have the Qld Schools Rugby Union fallen off the pace with this?

They have been getting worse every year for a while now. Details about the Ballymore Cup series is also non-existent so I sdhouldn't be surprised. I would have thought the schools would be pushing for this though as it gives them a chance to brag about any of their players selected to trial. Technology should have made this easier not harder!

heres the AIC rep teams and the draw, still chasing up the GPS, CSS and the rest of the Chairman's XV teams

Thanks Jordan.

I was just having a look at the programme and it also has the Qld Schoolboys teams from 1973, 1993 and 2003.

The thing that struck me from the 1993 and 2003 teams was how little of those young men actually went on to any serious level in professional football.

From the 1993 teams totalling 42 players there are only four names I recognise as going on. These are Ben Tune (Qld 1), Sean Hardman, Elton Flatley and Mark Bartholemuz (Qld 2). Another player was Adam Dale from SLC who I believe went on to a great cricket career.

In the 2003 teams totalling 46 players there is only one Wallaby, Digby Ioane.

I just find this amazing that so few go on to representative level after schoolboys, particularly in this day and age of professional rugby when you can make some type of living from the sport.

Dark Shark,

10 years is a long time when it comes to professional rugby. Go back 10 years and there were no Force and no Rebels in Australia and we hadn't really seen the growth in USA rugby in 2003 so I don't think there was as much of a living to be made.

In saying that it would be interesting to see how many players who didn't play in the Schoolboy Trials did go on to professional careers or to become Wallabies. It might indicate that the Trials aren't the be-all and end-all when it comes to identifying senior rugby talent.

Does anybody know hot the classic ANZAC/Lions game on Friday night will affect entry to viewing the AIC/GPS 1 match? Will i need a ticket or will it be played on the outside field?

There are many factors to consider here but you are right Dark Stark many do not kick on.

Research in sport worldwide suggests of course that Junior rep teams are made up from guys born Jan-June in the majority. This of course allows blokes/girls to develop other skills: tactical, technical and decision making that come to the fore when things even out later regarding size and the like.

However, surely the fact that many are purely burnt-out from the performance stress they are put under from schools, parents, clubs and the like.

I also wonder, if club fees are an issue. Coming from a League background we didn't pay fees back in the day - I am not sure if this has changed. I once asked a bloke I taught who was a talented sportsmen in many codes if he was going to play club cricket after school. He said no because the fees were $650 for the season.

Good luck to all boys playing over the next few days.

It is hoped that you will become life-long sportsmen.
