Kris Larosa #12 for GT 1st XV is definitely in contention if any of you saw him play NC on the weekend you would see why, great defence controlled Jack Tuttle who is arguably the best player in GPS

Larosa not eligible for u16 as too old.

Yes it is a shame as my mail was that Larosa had a cracker on Saturday and shut down (albeit a tired) Tuttle. In earlier games I thought Larosa's defence was outstanding but just not showing anything in attack at that time.

If he was a day or two younger he would have been valuable player for QLD u16 team this year.

yeah just looked him up and found out he is born on the 31st of December 1995 ouchhh. yeah his defence has always been his strength and saturday was the first time i had seen him really play a more attacking game, should be a good player for GPS teams next year then. When are these teams announced?

Hugo Krimmer is known among the BGS supporters as the "destroyer of souls". Playing at 14 for the BGS first XV i'd like to see him in contention for QLD selection as an outside back. Having also played 10 in recent years he has proven himself as a playmaker with brilliant speed and agility as well as a strong kicking game. Selected into the National Talent Squad last year he is a recognised player amongst those high up in Australian Rugby.

I think it will be interesting to see who is the halfback for the top qld as there are some very high quality halfbacks my top 3 picks in order are:

1. Fergus Halliday (BGS)
2. James Tuttle (NC)
3. Angus Fowler (GT)

All three of these boys are playing in their respective first XV. I don't know much about the AIC competition however I would be suprised if they have a player better than these three boys. Fergus is much smaller than these other two boys but I think he reads the game very well. James has the best pass out of the three however he rarely finds holes for he self. Angus is the best all around player he is the biggest has a great pass can read the defense to create holes for him self and forward runners however he kicks the ball far too much when he has a back line begging for the ball

Always find this process interesting. It seems as though this squad based on reputation and school nomination rather than current form. I know some players named have not played a full competition game this year due to injury. Others whose form at moment I could only describe as patchy.

Hard to name a team as I have not seen any of the regional players. However would will have a crack at naming the top 9 / 10 combination which i believe would be Fergus Halliday and Sam Hicks.

There seems to be an absence of u15 players nominated this year after so many u15 players were selected last year. Or are selectors awaiting the completion of the u15 school champs?

Dark Shark

Alex Ross (28)
Then again, that is why they trial over 100 players. They will probably be able to cull 30 or 40 pretty quickly.

Having a shocker. Just remembered that most of Sam Hicks rep rugby has been at In centre or Full Back so may not even figure in 5/8 position. Still I think he would go well at 5/8 as he has vision and is a quality play maker always creating opportunities.

Sam Hicks played 10 at the 2011 QJRU State Titles in Toowoomba and was a stand out. His vision suits fullback and I am just being converted to the idea of him as an inside centre because of his hard straight running and ball playing skills at the line.

Good to see that the performing TSS boys have been recognised. Look for Dorrough and Nathan who should feature at 12 and 11 respectively for either team.

I can attest to the fact that Halliday looked quite impressive, particularly in defence, but could the younger Tuttle move to 10 to accomodate each other?

Queensland backline based on performance:
9: Fergus Halliday/Moses Sorovi
Fergus has been performing very well for bgs and has a great pass
Moses has great agility and speed and recently made the Australian Indigenous Team
10: Not sure yet
11: Riley Brennan
Great speed and size, probably will wear the red and white again
12: Henry Devine
Utility player who has great agility and decision making to help his outside backs. Seen him perform fairly well with the gallopers
13: Linton Enoch

Had a good season for Peters. Has alot of speed and is good at decision making
14: Narhyl Bennett
Great speed and bone crunching defence. A utility player who brings down lads much bigger than him
15: Adrian Aidan
Great at counter attacking and never gets smashed despite his size because of his steps and chip kicks.

There would be many other perspectives on the backline which should be posted.
Can someone tell us how the trials are going.
