Sunnybank's issues can be fixed though as their members vote for the board of the licenced club. They just need to find some competent people who are willing to put in the time and vote them onto the board.

I would think Brothers and Easts could both do something similar to Wests, its about finding the money and personnel to make it happen.
Easts have a masterplan that involves putting a cafe/restaurant where the existing cricket club/nets are and something else where the gym is now.

Problem is it requires a lot of money.

I know they've already had some discussions with council regarding re-zoning and what not

What's the structure at the moment?
I've heard that Subbies clubs play against Premier 6th Grade, so does that mean 5 Grades + Womens XV + Colts for every QPR club?
QPR clubs run 5 grades + women's + 4 grades of colts usually. Bond only has 3 grades, and Norths and Sunnybank only have 4 grades. All of the above play on Saturdays.

Subbies comp has three tiers. The top tier is generally the bigger subbies clubs (Wynnum, Caboolture etc.) that would be potential expansion candidates with one or two grades and colts . The other tiers are generally one grade team clubs (Hustlers, Beaudesert).

Subbies grades generally play Fridays I think. Some of the Subbies colts seem to play thursday nights.

Some of the bigger QPR clubs technically have a 6th grade and also split Colts 4 into Colts 4A and 4B. These are entered into the one of the three Subbies comps.

Some of my info might be wrong or mistaken so apologies but that's the gist of it.

Wynnum and Caboolture haven't been a subbies club since 2018 - they moved on when subbies standard fell off a cliff and 2 team clubs suffered.
There are only a handful of Subbies clubs with 2 seniors teams and those clubs generally don't want to play in the top subbies grade (Barber Cup); they all want to play Friday night.
There are only 3 "Subbies" colts' teams - Wynnum, Logan (when they don't forfeit) and Caboolture and they play in the Tuckey Cup (Colts 4) on a Thursday night.
Financially Caboolture are probably the best placed to ramp up into a premier grade club - they have more money and better facilities than majority of Prem Clubs - but for all of that they can't field a competitive team (looking at results over last few years).

I was under the impression most of Logan transferred over to Sunnybank to play 5th grade and colts, but then their 5th grade disappeared. No idea what happened there.

No slight on those players going to Shute Shield , but WTF Sydney?

The top clubs have enough for 5 Grades + 4 Colts. They should have kids lining up to develop

Do Shute Shield clubs have the ability to throw enough cash at Colts/Ressies players to make the move worth the higher rent and disruption to whatever Uni Degree/apprenticeship/career progress kids have in Brisbane?

USyd scholarship excluded of course. That's a tough incentive to argue with.

I would love to see Toowoomba enter Hospitals Cup. It won't happen because it would kill the local competition, but it would be great to see all the Downs products being able to play for a Toowoomba team. Downs Rugby are a really well run union, with their own building (about to be extended), plenty of players, a booming women's and girls program and financial support from the Wagners and Black Motor group among others.
However, because it won't happen, it would be great if QRU could revive the competition where Brisbane Premier teams went out to the country and played rep teams like Darling Downs, Rockhampton, Townsville etc.
I remember watching some cracking games like Easts v Sunshine Coast and Wests v Darling Downs.

I know lot of clubs in Sydney are bringing in kids from NSW Country and other places, asking for accommodation on social media. So u guess they do

Wests just put this call out themselves, so I imagine we can expect to see some incoming out of town talent for them

This is one from the Shute Shield, but a flick through that page shows there's opportunities in lots of places
