The Sunnybank side after round 1 are showing the fruits if what is possible from a side who has a core group playing together for a season or two and demonstrating the value of experience. In the AFL they use to say it was 50 games( (about two seasons) before you really get to see the best of a player.

And some strong recruitment….

Easts core group gone from previous season, absolutely zero recruitment...results speak for themselves. Yep think you're both right

You picked up a few boys with the reds.

They are young and green and might get fast tracked to premier grade sooner rather than later
Goldsborough looked a good prospect in colts 1 game.

definitely got the build to play amongst the men. might definitely get a run perhaps starting on the wing.

Liddy also impressive and could make a good replacement for Tom Milosivic although think he needs to pack on a fair few kgs to play seniors.

Massimo as well although didn't see how he went 2nd half.

It baffles me the chat from pillar to post podcast stating easts going to be strong. Majority of the players they named Andrew Ready, Brad Wilkin etc wont even play majority of the season haha.

The team is nearly all the 2nd graders moving up from last year. It will be a rebuilding year.

How did we all feel about officiating the new tackle rules in round one? I can't speak for the games I didn't watch or play in but it's been a nice upward trend in consistency from the referees and adjustment from the players compared to early trials.

Feel like it should be smooth sailing by round 5.

The refs will cop a fair bit of stick during the season trying to police the new tackle height rule. Will they get it 100% right all of the time? No but I’m sure they will do their best.

Some interesting inclusions this week.

Conor Vest at 6 for a very strong South's backrow.
Teti Tela at 10 for Jeeps is a strong inclusion.
Sef Fa'agase on the bench for Sunnybank. He might have a fight on his hands getting back into the Reds squad.

86 points conceded in two weeks for the Tigers.

Brothers’ win has to be put in context but they look a stronger squad than last year! Reserve grade also put 50+ on Easts.
