I really dislike the “name withheld” in rugby explorer - I’d like to know who’s lining up 13 for Easts (I suspect it might be Shae Lagavalesi)

Imagine if they had name withheld at super rugby level… the suspense awaiting your favourite player running out the tunnel and the guessing game.
i remember last year "name withheld" was playing number 6 for redlands suburban comp. It ended up being curtis browning former reds player.

Yeh Redlands had a great lineup last year in the Friday night comp, more than a few former super rugby players and 7s blokes having a run.
Jordan Tuapou former Easts and Norths prems player and Aussie 7's was playing for them as well.

Did they end up winning the comp do you know?

I'd imagine there would be a few former pro ring ins playing under the mysterious "name withheld" week to week in various teams

Seems few reds boys have come down to clubland in this opening round.

Uni team seems pretty decent after all the conjecture about them falling off the grid after Heenans departure.

Mac Greely and Connor Vest both playing.

TJ is always a powerhouse in the centres and very interesting to see former BBC captain Jacob Blyton leave easts and get a starting spot at Uni in the second row straight away. Good on him i say. I dont think he would of got a spot at Easts especially considering this is his first year in seniors after colts.

Still some notable omissions from their regular squad last year.

GPS 6th grade won that comp. Redlands second team had browning and some of the other fellas but a few of them played for the first team that lost to GPS. Think they got a bit of a shock that night

Interesting to see Nico Pedrot (french winger import) start ahead of both Ed Burns who has come over from Redcliffe Dolphins Q Cup last year and the incumbent winger Jordy Carreira who I thought was a stand out when he played last year.

Norths team looks good on paper too. Backline looks very good. I think they will do much better then what ppl think. Their colts did extremely well last year so theres some talent coming through if they dont lose them all to other teams lol
Not sure about the Norths comment. Souths should win comfortably IMO

Compass Cup - Souths have a Colts eligible 8, 9 and 10. So a grade hardened Norths in a close one except if you back Souths youth. Too risky. Eagles.

Sunnybank at home will be the unknown quantity. Tigers looked good last week and have big guns back. Pilz is the key and I expect Easts to win with a stronger bench.

UQ and GPS on neutral ground - GPS bye next week then Easter so expect them to go very hard. UQ will be younger and more mobile than GPS going on what we saw last week. GPS don’t have Captain Richards. But picking GPS because they have a few weeks to recover and a fresh front row on the bench.

Finally, Wests and Bond. You would think Bulldogs but for some reason (aka Super Rugby) they might be depleted. I am picking Bond. Connors to star.

My Picks:
GPS v UQ - GPS front row to strong, I think the students will struggle with set piece.
East v Sunnybank - East will run away with this one after the first 20mins.
West v Bond - With the addition of the fly in players from Melbourne one would think West would win this battle.
Souths v Norths - With George and Phransis out I think Norths will have the edge.

GPS are a bit disrupted - a few blokes including the skipper away at an interstate wedding, Wouldnt be surprised to see them dusted.

Looks like Carson Patu has switched to Rugby League, bit of a shame, talented athlete. Was in the Reds Academy as a prop but switched to the backrow for Bond.

Good come from behind win by UQ 26-19 over GPS. The Gallopers didn’t bother the scorers in the second half after being up 19-7.

Elton gets his first W as a HC.
Thought Grealy had a great game and Twidale and Swerling made a big difference off the bench. Kuridrani still looking strong for GPS.

Looks like Bond have scored a big win over Wests, getting up 32-17. I only caught bits and pieces of it but it looked like Bond were in control for just about the whole match. Good to see Jeans returning off the bench for Bond.
