Qld Premier Rugby 2023

Heard Mosiah was at Brothers training on Tuesday so one would assume they are both at Crosby Park this year - Jaiden was on contract with the Rebels this year and still played at Brothers, he was also named in the 2023 Rebels Squad so one would assume he may fly in and out as did the other Rebel players.

First you say Christian was going to West because of the Rebel affiliation then you say it would be interesting to see if Christian will now return to Crosby Park as a result of Werchon moving clubs and now you are say he was not wanted by the Rebels lol at the very least be consistent with your made-up stories lol.

There were never any conversations had with the Christian brothers and West as they had no intention of leaving Crosby Park you can confirm that with Elwee and Gabs - Fact

2ndly Werchon left Brothers because they would not guarantee him a starting 9 spot over Christain - Fact

Lastly the Rebels had already filled their 2023 contracts for the 9 position a long time ago, the purpose of bringing in young talent like Christian, Cooper Jones, Angelo Smith and Ethan Dobbins like any professional club is to expose potential future prospects to higher level training and to show the players what they have to offer them.

Not sure who you are talking to Ghost, but you need to turn around you are running backwards my friend.

In other news, pretty big youth rugby coaching forum being hosted at Nudgee College next week.

A lot of current QPR coaches involved and running sessions, as well as alumni, Shane Arnold, Elwee Prinsloo, Phil Mooney and Zane Hilton to name a few.

Jason Gilmore involved, James O’Connor running a session as well and heaps more. Looks to be around 15 sessions.

Hopefully they get a good number of attendees and it keeps building for a few years. Honestly I’m unsure if this is the first year or it’s been done before.

Excited to see how the Sunnybank and Souths squads look this year under new management - also interested to see where David Feliuai Lene lands as there are a few clubs chasing his signature, I hope he stays at the bank.

Not sure where you are getting your information from but you are incorrect
Mosiah had every intention of going to wests with Jayden UNTIL Werchon had his meeting with Gabbett and wasn’t guaranteed premier grade. FACT

That is why they are now staying at Crosby. FACT

Brothers appear to have had some decent #9s of recent time how would we rank the Pheonix Hunt amongst Werchon, Christian, etc?
Where is Hunt playing these days?

Pheonix played for Cottesloe in WA last season alongside Andrew Romano, seen him training last week he looks in good shape - I rate Mosiah Christian, Isaac Tarabay and the young 9 from Colts1 last season, Brothers have good depth at 9.

Tarabay isn’t playing this year. Werchon has gone and that leaves them with Christian and Oscar Varricchio who was the Prem Colts 9 last year.
They also have Will Cartwright who is super fit and quick but does he have the size to cut it in grades? That’s the question

So seeing as most clubs have had a week or so of pre season under their belts now surely all the conjecture of movements has settled down.
Is there any confirmed moves that have got people intrigued?

Are Wests firming to go back to back? Any early predictions? Who will be top 4 and why?

The competition is starting a month earlier than last year but QLD Rugby still haven't got the draw on https://qld.rugby/

team I am most intrigued about (other than my own team ) is UQ.

when is the last time they missed a qpr playoffs?

anyone know if Garrick Morgan had any success recruiting any Toowoomba grammar byproducts over to Chipsy Wood?

My two cents

YES TOP 4
Wests - Maybe depends if enough return from last year
UQ - Probably cause it is in the DNA of the place
Brothers - have been building and good players moving up to grades

NO WAY
Bond - No chance not enough depth
Sunnybank -will move up but it is a slow climb
Easts - something not gelling over there at the moment

SMOKIES / MAYBE
Souths - Recruited well especially under GM
Norths - Will surprise a few this year especially if some of the 2022 colts move up.
GPS - Pretty good roster with a heavy PI influence which brings depth.

Will be another season of very close contests and am sure there are upsets galore on the cards.

Wests should give it a fair crack again, assume they are strong in the early rounds. A number of their key players will be involved with the Rebels in a more permanent capacity this year, and some of their unsigned guns have picked up Reds gigs.

What have you heard about Easts?

they finished the season really well last year. One dumb loss to Norths (after beating wests the week before)

if one of the teams is to crack the top 4 who was on the outside looking in last season then I think it will be the tigers
