I may sound cynical however it interesting that Cooper Jones is the is the halfback for the Premier Rugby side when he is 3rd rated halfback for Wests.....and the coach is Elwee Prinsloo the Wests coach. Unfortunately this is why you lose faith in the selection process and extremely disheartening for the other players in the comp.

Cooper Jones played halfback, wing and fullback.

he had starts in all 3 positions in premier grade this season….

But yeah go ahead and pigeon hole him as wests 3rd halfback

Understand then pick him on the bench as a utility. There are better halfbacks in my option.
You do know the teams you responded to weren't the official ones, just someone's selection based on the announced squads?

Beyond that there is a definite lean towards selecting guys in those squads who look like they have the potential to go pro, which can see some odd or unbalanced selections on the face of it.

To be fair there are only two 9s selected if you include him, so he will play 9 - also do not agree on his selection, he has not played enough QPR 9 to justify being selected in this team as a 9, utility on the bench maybe at a stretch. But when your dad is the coach, QPR game time is irrelevant lol.

I thought Harrison Usher and Ben Murphy were left field selections - Harrison was 5th string Loose Head and did not start one game.

1-M.Gibbon
2-G.Blake
3-H.Samuela
4-L.Samuela
5-H.Usher

Context is important: these selections are only marginally “merit” teams ( both last year and this year it wasn’t anywhere close to a QPR XV “selected”) and the Reds and QPR should make that clearer in the communication /posts. Despite that, clearly some of the names would be head scratchers to all of those who watched most of the 2023 Hospital Cup across the season.

kuidrani on the Challenger XV team thought ran well and with purpose. Moli Sooaemalelagi bagged 4 tries.

HMP in the 10 jersey was real sharp for the reds. I thought Matt Gicquel was phenomenal.
For my money, I think the #10 jersey in the Reds next year is between Creighton and HMP.
