Qld Premier Rugby 2022

yep - stand there like every brothers player in any match holding their hands up pleading for a pathetic penalty - is it a new way of praying? such poor form - they need to stop it as it has become laughable amongst opposition clubs and refs.

Yeh I agree with NRB here (also not a Brothers supporter).

Without getting too philosophical about it - we live in 2022, society has become more normalised with people complaining on social media, wanting their opinions heard, abusing players and officials behind closed doors etc etc. This has translated into all walks of life, in particular sports, not just club rugby. Players are constantly talking back to refs and arguing calls. Players like Nic White have made a career of being a 'chatty pest'.

I remember watching games 15 years ago and the slightest backchat would result in a 10 meter march up the field. These days I reckon in Super Rugby you'd be lucky to see 5 of those happen per season. Like I said, not just rugby either, I watch a lot of NBA and despite them saying their cracking down on player behaviour, every single call in that sport is argued and they don't hand out technical fouls enough, in my opinion.

I hear that Souths have a case to answer for playing guys listed as starting in reserve grade side in rugby explorer off the bench in third grade on the day that they played Easts and the reserve grade game was canceled due to the rain.
If guilty I think Souths lose the points but they don’t get awarded to Easts. Was that the case with GPS & Wests in premier grade recently?

one thing rugby explorer has done is made the scrutinizing easier than when it was on pen and paper

Really pertinent post PC.

The disrespect is everywhere. The AFL have cracked down on it (probably more than they should have so it is being somewhat unwound) and other sports need to do the same.

The English referees don't tolerate it and therefore, the players don't make a fuss. Some real prima-donnas playing rugby in 2022 particularly at certain clubs. If you watch them train, you can see it is embedded in the culture at a young age.

Jono Kent must be thrilled with his move to Wests.

He seems to get shafted from his preferred position at every opportunity!
Think it was in a Pillar to Post podcast early last year that he was asked about his move to Wests and he straight out said it was for the opportunity to play 10. He did get a few starts there last season , so can’t say he hasn’t been afforded that opportunity.

Wonder who made the call to play Hunter at 10? Do Wests think he is their best option available or Reds have asked to have a look at him there?

On the Match Day app which is used by Team Managers on the game day to record their team, a manager can adjust their team list at varying times including up to kick off. The bench can be changed up to 15 minutes into the game. I can't see that Souths has any case to answer, with submitting team lists a couple of days before match day, to the public Rugby Explorer app and changing those teams before kick off on the official Rugby Match Day app. The 2nd grade game was called off the day before match day, so no players started in 3rd grade and again in 2nd grade. At that stage of the season, Souths had only played two games. There weren't established 2nd grade and 3rd grade players for the season, unlike later in the season closer to the finals, when the eligibility rules are applied to prevent team staking. So what is the case that Souths have to answer?

No mate - the rule is that guys from higher grades should not be playing in lower grade when higher games are cancelled - it is just a vibe thing - not in the spirit of club rugby - wouldn’t meet the pub test IMO.
If a guy is selected in a second grade team for that week he shouldn’t play 3rd grade if the second grade game doesn’t go ahead. It’s clearly a breach of the competition rules.

Apparently Hunter Paisami will play for Wests this weekend - at flyhalf
Sorovi and Vudogo both named to start.

Had a quick look through the team lists on Rugby Xplorer and can’t see any Reds’ players down as playing.

On a separate note , the Bond v Brothers game down the coast should be a cracker!

Is the flyhalf for UQ - Declan MacGuire - the former GPS player? One of the blokes who owns Science of Fitness and they’re looking after UQ this year as well.

If so, that’s quite the rise for him. He was mostly a thirds player at GPS (with not exactly a great lineup of fly halves ahead of him). I wonder how long he is seat warming for Lynagh.

I mentioned earlier this week, questioning about a RUPA mandated time off for super rugby players?

all the players playing this week have not featured a lot in super rugby or have been injured.

you’d be mad not to be running out in clubland this weekend and having one final audition for Dave Rennie squad announcement on Sunday, flip side of the coin is you might not want to get injured before the squad announcement.

does anyone know if the u20 Australia team is away in camp or something?
