The Easts fall from 6 from 6 premierships to 0-6 Premier Grade 2021 record is quite remarkable, but I think you will find that from the GF side the following guys (11) did not run out against Brothers last weekend:
1 (Wests), 2 (Reds), 3 (Rebels), 4 (Reds), 7 (Retired/Sabattical), 8(Retired), 9(Injured), 10(Retired), 11(Injured), 13 (injured), 15 (injured).

Their reserve grade side is also now less Pheonix Hunt(9), Kirwan Sanday(3), Jacks(12) & George F (8 formerly SNBK), since the 2020 GF.

That accounts for 15 players out of 1st and 2nd grade - I don't think there is any club that could sustain that type of player drain and stay at the top.

It explains the Tigers 2021 efforts in 1st, 2nd & 3rd grade (who all won premierships in 2020).

I think they are finished in Prems but if they can get some troops back then they are not necessarily done for in Reserve grade 2021.

Very hard to go back to back in QPR. Being so dominant just highlights your players even more, making them more attractive for professional teams onshore and abroad.

We always talk about Premiership windows and these day it is far smaller than in the past. More professional comps looking for young players means less time in a club setup before they're picked up somewhere. Player agents signing players straight from school looking for them to get paid sooner.

It is one of the reason I enjoy watching the lower grades when I make it down to watch club footy. Proper club men having a run around with their mates, the quality may not be as good, but it's closer to the footy I enjoyed when I was playing.

Highlights just how impressive UQ’s last 10 years under Mick Heenan have been.

Also love the fact so many lower grade players from all clubs still stick around and make a day of it on a Saturday. The amount of grade players still at the grounds sinking cans when First Grade and then the girls’ teams run out is what club footy is about .

Well said mate. The quality of rugby seems to be getting better in the past couple of years. Throwing a few of the Reds boys back in from time to time keeps it interesting. Pretty impressive young talent coming through too.

Will be interesting to see if he’s back for the rest of the season , or just coming back through QPR from his injury lay-off.

Don’t think he has played since he picked up an injury coming off the bench for the Rebels in the early rounds of Super AU.

Let me guess - some idiot from the Glue Factory? I feel that they, along with The Butchery for Brothers, tend to frequently step over the line of vocal support into unacceptable abuse by the end of the game (usually assisted by liquid courage).

It is unusual for a winning team to react to the crowd after they've won though. I hope it wasn't anything ugly that was the trigger.

If there was anything serious said or done from the Glue Factory that goes beyond banter I’m sure GPS management will deal with it. The last bloke who stepped out of line (throwing a can at Sam Greene circa 6 years ago) was handed down a suspension from the club and written apology to all parties.

The Glue Factory and Butchery cop some bad wraps as the clubs congregate players to those spots. Sitting around opposition players in the stands at most clubs and you’ll hear very similar remarks.

Looked like the situation cameras only saw it pretty late but a couple of Gluebers were giving lip and getting pulled away by there mates - ref was there - thought there might have been more given the scoreboard was strong but not totally reflective of a tight game where superior lineout beat superior scrums

A lot of posters here have asked why Jaybor Staunton didn’t get a start with Stan Sport for the QPR games, I thought he was good last year as the commentator for most games of the round and generally gave a good spin on QPR stuff.

But some of the media and content he’s involved with on the Pillar to Post podcast and the Pig Athletic Club has been pretty low brow this year. I wonder what came first, the Stan Sports guys hearing some of that stuff or when he didn’t get the call up he decided to just not worry about a professional sports image.

I’m glad he’s still involved in some type of rugby content and plenty is enjoyable but yeh, I don’t see him getting a mainstream gig if he keeps posting some of the stuff they are doing.

There was some chat thrown at one of the UQ players by a couple of patrons of the Glue Factory , that it got a reaction should suggest it wasn’t either witty or PC.

Herbie was yelling at GPS boys through the loud speaker to back off and Michael Richards apologised in his post match speech to the UQ players .

It was handled as well as it could have been, and was the only slight on what was otherwise a good day and a great crowd. Being ladies day it was a big crowd.

The home crowd had plenty to cheer about with good wins in Colts 1 and 2nd Grade. First Grade was tight for bit in the second half with two quick tries to the home side , but GPS were well off their best . The lineout in particular was a shambles and showed little patience in attack against a good defensive effort from the Red Heavies. Scrums would have been the only thing in GPS’ favour and then it wasn’t by as much as many expected.

Shame the GPS v Uni game ended like it did. Word has it a beer can was thrown and that kicked it off. A similar thing happened some years ago from memory? GPS never take losing well but this sort of shit is way over the odds.
Good match that was most notable for GPS' inability to do anything constructively apart from scrummage. Red Heavies look red hot this year.
